The Problem with Forever
The Winter Boyfriend
Chloe Price had her heart broken with her first love. She's decided that she's spent enough time hurting and is determined to spend Christmas break getting over him once and for all. The last thing she's interested in is another boyfriend but when her sister Margot brings her boyfriend Owen and his brother Ethan home for a surprise holiday visit, the connection is immediate. Ethan Hall is closed off, sullen, suffering. The pain in his eyes draws Chloe in and holds her captive. She wants to be the one to change his glare into his crooked smile. And despite his walls, Ethan feels Chloe breaking through, giving him hope of a future very different from his lonely past.
The Winter Boyfriend is the latest book in my favorite YA series. Seriously. Each time I review one of The Boyfriend Series I say I love this book, can't get enough, want more. Nothing has changed. This book is magical. So many special small moments that when put together make for an exceptional story. Every girl has been Chloe at some point in her life; brokenhearted, embarrassed. It's so easy to see that she could do much better than her first boyfriend. She's smarter, kinder, better in so many ways but first love can be convincing. Ethan is the one but when they meet he's a lost boy. He's been abandoned too many times in his young life in ways he doesn't even understand. He's lost the ability to even dream. This forced holiday opens up his heart to the possibilities of love, family, future. He needs Chloe. And this is exactly what Chloe needs as well.
This is a story of forever love but it's also a story of family. Family is the center of everything. Even when it feels demanding or unappreciative or momentarily absent, family is still what keeps us grounded and strong. Family is the foundation of our world and when it disappears it's devastating. But family comes in many forms. We can create a new family, we can join another family. Forever love wrapped up in family; it's like one of Chloe's perfect cups of cocoa complete with marshmallows. It fills you with a warmth that lasts. This story filled me with joy and hope. It sparkles. It's the perfect Holiday read.

The Maybe Boyfriend
by Christina Benjamin ****REVIEW
Megan Fields, best friend of Sam Connor's (The Almost Boyfriend) is a Boston University film student on her way with Sam and her boyfriend Devon to spend the semester abroad in Ireland. Megan will be making a film about Cor-Tec, Megan's dad's company. Zander O’Leary, Ireland's youngest billionaire, and Devon's best friend runs the company. Megan and Zander helped to get Sam and Devon together and have been video-chatting ever since. For three years they have talked daily, shared everything; secrets, worries, fears, hopes, and dreams. Megan knows that Zander is the guy she's meant to spend her life with. However, Megan has been known to get carried away by her imagination. Undeterred, Megan knows what she wants and she's determined to get her man once she gets to Ireland. Zander is equally smitten with Megan; she's the only person he's ever let close. But that was because she was safe, far away in America. Once she's staying in his house it's impossible for him to ignore how much he wants her but realizes maybe he’s not ready for a commitment. He can't be what Megan needs so it's better to stop things before they go too far. He's not greatly successful with this but does manage to pull back. Megan doesn't give up that easily though and as her filmmaking adventure goes sideways for the couple, Zander is forced to reveal his secrets. Megan is the one for Zander, the girl that can help him, make him happy, exactly what he needs but he may not be man enough to allow her in.
Megan, the pint-sized firecracker may not be everyone's cup of tea but I found her refreshing. She's honest, upfront, stubborn, impulsive, willful, funny, and so positive. She's a breath of fresh air, so full of life and enthusiasm. Zander seems great on paper; gorgeous, wealthy, intelligent. He never won me over entirely. I understand being damaged by your childhood, being closed off, being unable to easily trust. These traits I understand. His biggest flaw was his cowardliness. It lessened my opinion of him. He couldn't open up, he wouldn't even try, choosing to run away instead. His run to London was a dealbreaker for me. I couldn't get beyond his actions. Megan deserved better and I was upset with her that she wasn't strong enough to let go. I'm sure other readers will feel that he more than made up for his weakness and evolved into the man Megan always knew he could be. I see their argument but it doesn't work for me. Zander is a good guy. He did face his past, he did man-up, but it was too late for their relationship. Zander knew his feelings for Megan, he had shown her how he felt, then he ran. Everything that he did from that point until he returned home crossed a line I can't ignore. He disrespected and disregarded Megan. That's not how a forever love starts. Now having stated this I want to make it clear that my feelings validate how good I think this book is. Christina Benjamin creates these characters that I fall in love with. I become protective like they are true friends. If they weren't real to me, if the story didn't ring authentic, then I wouldn't be so upset with Zander and want more for Megan. Please understand that while I may not love Zander like the other 'boyfriends' that this book holds it's own in this incredible series.
We are up to book six of the Boyfriend series. This series is as strong and entertaining today as it was with book one. So well-written, so compelling. Such precious characters. May there be many more boyfriends for me to read about!

The Stand-In Boyfriend
by Christina Benjamin *****REVIEW
If's, maybe's, should've, could've-the words that have echoed through Parker Reed's mind from the day that P and B became P, B, and J. Parker has grown up next door to Beth Bennett. They are best friends. He's been in love with her most of his life but he's never had the nerve to tell her. He doesn't feel that he deserves her and he's afraid to ruin their perfect friendship. Beth feels the same way but she's too shy to show her feelings, always hoping that he will make the first move. Then Jared moves in across the street stealing Beth away. It's true that you never know how much you need and want someone until they're gone. Not that Beth is truly gone. Parker still sees her every day, he still goes with her to the classic movies they both love, he still goes to each of her musicals because these things are important to Beth and don't interest Jared. Parker's been relegated to the stand-in boyfriend. It hurts to see Beth dating another guy but he can handle it because her happiness is the most important thing in the world to him. Jared may not be worthy of Beth but he falls for her along the way. She matters to him more than any girl ever has but he's made mistakes. When it all starts to fall apart Beth has to make choices. Which boy owns her heart? What does love truly look like, will she recognize it when she finds it, has it been there all along or is it with the boy who stole her away?
I love this series. They touch me like no other series written today. Each one is so heartfelt and leaves me happier than I was before. Once again I was enchanted. This is a book of missed opportunities, regret, and mistakes. It's also a book of hope, sisterly love, friendship, and young love. It's a story that could occur in any high school across the country. Best friends fall in love all of the time but are too scared or shy to go after what they want. Boyfriends and girlfriends make (un)forgivable mistakes, lie, and hurt the other person in the relationship every day. They are not necessarily bad people. They are young, stupid, careless with another's heart. This doesn't make it okay or lessen the pain but it doesn't make them a horrible person either. They will likely get their heart broken one day too. It's part of life and love. This story of young love, first love, lasting love is written to perfection. It's a series of normal days that become extraordinary, precious childhood memories, perfect days in the present, and the hope of a lifetime of the same. This book was all about P, B, and J but the supporting characters deserve mention. Misguided Caroline... Normally, I would hate this girl, but instead, I actually pitied her. The Bennett Girls...I love them in every book they appear. The wedding preparations, hurricane Brenna, and the good-natured teasing were the perfect balance to the heavy emotions the teens were all facing.
As I've mentioned more than once, this series reaches me like no other. Each time I finish one of the Boyfriend books I'm afraid that it will be the last. I can't imagine that Christina Benjamin can continue to come up with ideas for and write these dear books forever. For right now I'm going to look for the rainbows and hope that she has at least one (5, 10, 20) more in mind for the future.

The Holiday Boyfriend
by Christina Benjamin ****REVIEW
Emma Rhodes was once the reigning Teen Queen of her Private Academy; Manhatten was her playground. However, she's not been back to Manhatten since her parent's divorce. She fled the city with a broken family and a broken heart. Now she's returning for the Christmas Holiday with great apprehension and high hopes. She's missed the city, her dad, and her one-time best friend/secret crush Will Taylor. However, her return isn't what she expected. Her father has a new life, a new family, her best friend isn't available, and Will seems to have moved on to her biggest rival Liz. But are things really what they seem? Can Emma put aside the hurt, possibly forgive in order to get what she wants?
Emma and Will are fantastic characters. Childhood friends who could be so much more. There's something so sweet about someone knowing you so well that not only do they know your favorite chocolate, but they also know your secret gestures and they find them adorable. Someone you can be totally comfortable with and who makes you tingle is someone to hold onto. Someone who knows what you need better than you do, someone whose first and last thought is you is irreplaceable. These two are adorable. As is Colin. This little bundle of energy is delightful. I was not a fan of the parents. Will's parents don't deserve the title (although Sharon was wonderful) and I couldn't get over the first impression of Emma's parents. So no. The classmates embody the worst of spoiled, entitled rich kids, again, not a fan. The final character is the city. It's the most vibrant city in the world, but around Christmas, it moves to another level. Each New York City detail in this story showed its allure. The city provided a captivating backdrop for Emma and Will.
This is a story about second chances. It's a story of Christmas, history, and hope. It's also a coming of age story in the best sense set during the most magical season of the year. Growing up is painful. Noone can escape it. Misunderstandings and betrayals occur, feelings are hurt, relationships fall apart, hearts are broken. We all get bruised. Those we open our hearts to, those we let closest to us, those we love the most are often the ones to cause us the most pain. They are also the ones to bring us the greatest happiness. Love is the one thing always worth taking a chance for. Emma knows she can't have her life back, but she knows what she wants. Will's future is clear to him. Can they be brave enough to go after happiness? Do you believe in mistletoe and miracles?
Hello. One little word. One word with power to change a mind, a life, the world. This book is one of the most moving books I have read in a while. I had a hard time reading at points because of tears in my eyes; tears of joy, tears of anger, tears of relief, tears of sadness. I was truly overwhelmed with emotions at times. Camille has made up her mind, she has a "plan for dying"; she's going to finish her bucket list, graduate high school, say goodbye, and that's the end. Period. She has her reasons, she has her plan. Then Nathan Hawthorne enters her life bringing chaos and sunshine. He scares her to death, he makes her feel things it's too late to feel, he makes her want what she can't have. This isn't a book about dying; it's one about living.
Camille is a heartbreaking character. I can't imagine her life, her pain, her strength. She was so strong in many ways, so scared in others. She was fragile, but above all she was lovable. Nate was a character. Having suffered loss, his determination to live every moment was beautiful. He was beautiful. His romantic side, his ability to love fully, his incredible thoughtfulness, his caring heart, and his bravery made him ideal for Camille. These two together were perfection. Both sets of parents played an important role in this story. Each set showed how much pain a parent can cause a child while still loving them. Parents are human too; they make decisions out of fear or pain that they believe is in the child's best interest, that actually isn't or they emotionally remove themselves from their child unknowingly. Just because humans grow older doesn't mean that we stop making mistakes. The love and mistakes from their parents all played their parts with Camille and Nathan's story. Ultimately love won. And I must mention two other characters; Poo LaRue and Ronnie. Both lightened the mood at times and were important in Camille's life. For all of Ronnie's craziness, the man had wisdom. He was a remarkable addition to the cast; a saint disguised in sugar and glitter!
I am not going to go into ANY detail about this book. This book shouldn't be spoiled for anyone. It's incredible. There are so many scenes, so many conversations that will linger with you. It's very special book. Camille and Nate are precious, their love story is not your typical high school one. This book will destroy you at times (in the best way). It will make you appreciate simple pleasures in your own life. It will fill your heart. It may make you want to make your own wall. At first, I wasn't sure I liked the last two paragraphs of the book, but after thinking about it, possibly obsessing about it, I decided that it was perfect, considering everything. Please read the Author's Note and the Acknowledgements.
*Note to the author: Christina Benjamin well done! Thank you for this book. It touched me more than you can imagine, My own note to add to your Hello to Dalton. Jacob, you are always loved, you are always missed. Until our next hello.

The Almost Boyfriend
by Christina Benjamin ****REVIEWEach book I read by Christina Benjamin makes me love her just a little bit more. The Almost Boyfriend is book 2 in the boyfriend series. These are stand-alone contemporary romances that are simply grand! I finish each book with a huge smile on my face.
Sam is a high school senior being yanked out of her life. Her father's business is taking the two of them back to her birthplace, Ireland. Unfortunately, she hasn't been there since she was 8 and has no desire to return now. This was not her plan for her last year of high school. She has a plan though to get back to her regular life in Boston. She plans to use her father's business partner's son Devon to show that Ireland is bad for her, she's a bad girl in Ireland. Devon, of course, is unaware of her plans, but he's as eager to see her as she is to see/use him. He's been in love with her since they were 8.
These two are adorable together. Devon is so scared he can't ever say the right thing, Sam is so scared, she's setting silly rules. Yet when they both relax it's so easy and natural between them....right up until the sexual tension takes over. Then it's hot. These characters are so likable, so natural. They are young and make mistakes, but it's clear to see how good they can be together.
They are off to a rocky, yet promising start when school starts and Sam's life turns into the movie Mean Girls because of Devon's ex Sophie. She's vile. The perfect high school witch; beautiful, rich, complete with her very own Barbie posse. She's also dangerously mean and doesn't like the competition from the new girl. Devon handles almost everything wrong. Each time he makes a decision to protect Sam, he ends up hurting her more. Still, he almost makes it work with the perfection of the camping trip. But only almost.
This book is such a good read. It's simply sweet. There are so many lovely moments. There's tragedy and pain, there are misunderstandings and attacks, yet there's an innocence. There's first love, true love. I loved this book, no almost about it. I can't get enough of this feel-good series and can't wait for the next book!

The Practice Boyfriend
by Christina Benjamin *****REVIEW
The Practice Boyfriend is the perfect story of high school drama. It reminded me of a John Hughes film. Set in a privileged private school the story focuses on Hannah, Class Valedictorian, and State Tennis Champion. With a full scholarship to Brown waiting for her, she has accomplished everything she set out to do in high school. However, while trying to write her commencement speech, she realizes that she forgot to live along the way. She's not experienced any of normal high school life; no dating, no parties, no broken heart, no friends... Hannah immediately sets out to fit 4 years of high school into her last month of school. She aims high! and develops a plan to break into the Golden's, the school's top clique, and attend their biggest end of the year party. To do this she calls in a favor from former Golden boy Cody. Cody has been tossed aside by the group after getting his girlfriend gets pregnant and she dies in a drunk driving accident.
The storyline is fun and drama filled. Hannah and Cody are both developed characters and evolve along the way as their partnership deepens. The side Golden's are all beautiful and untrustworthy. It's a nicely paced, well-written book. Once I started it, I couldn't put it down. It's one of those books you just have to see how it plays out and make certain that the characters get their happily ever after. Totally enjoyable read.

One surfer girl from the south side. A hot, rich boy from the north side. Ryder Bay may be a small place but north and south are worlds apart. Harley has learned that she can only depend on herself in this world. Everyone else will eventually disappoint her, hurt her or leave. The water is her haven, the waves have saved her. Aidan lives a charmed life, loving family, wealth, good school. But he's hit a rough patch and can't see all of his blessings. His girlfriend broke up with him, he's lost his edge as a swimmer, and he seems to be a disappointment to his parents. Avoiding his life one particularly difficult afternoon, Aiden goes to the south side beach where his attention is drawn to a tiny blond surfer girl. When Harlow tells him he may need to 'change his water from chlorine to salt' and offers to teach him to surf, they both find a kindred spirit. However, with their growing attraction comes growing problems, a nasty cousin, an ex, dangerous locals, and a general clash of cultures. Can these two overcome their differences or should they each stick to their own; water and world?
Over the Falls is the first book in Jordan Ford's new sports romance trilogy. It's about discovering one's passion, worlds colliding, falling in love, having fun. Living. It's told in dual POV. The setting is superb. Harlow and Aiden's world is perfectly captured. The profound difference a small stretch of geography can make is highlighted brilliantly. One side is white, pristine, elite. Nothing but the best. A mile down the road brings color, variety, shabbiness. Life is more of a struggle. What the north and the south do have in common is the sun, sand, and sea. This is also what brings Harlow and Aiden together. The other thing these two have overwhelmingly in common is their age. Teens feel so deeply. The sense of failure, of heartbreak, of forever, is so strong at this age. The heart and the mind are at constant war. Emotions run so high. Joy, anger, hurt. Passions are so easy to trigger. These characters, their conversations, fights, feelings were so believable. They are weak, they make mistakes. They pick themselves up, they face their fears. It made them easy to love, easy to root for.
The side characters and family all add to the depth of this book. I loved the glimpse of a certain dark-haired pregnant beauty and her love walking down the beach. I look forward to answers. Answers about "that guy" and what happened to Skylar. Who was involved: Craig, Wyatt, Ripper? I want to spend more time with Harlow and Aiden. I want more surf time even if that includes Axel and his crew. I would like to understand Axel better. I want more Jed, the BMF and Griffin, the nomad. I suppose that I should include Savannah but I admit that I am not a fan. I didn't see the sweet girl everyone described and I'm not over the hospital scene. It's going to take time! It all starts with her trip to the grocery. She better play nice. Can't wait to see!

Foul Play (Barlow Sisters #3)
by Jordan Ford ****REVIEW
Foul Play continues the story of the Barlow sisters; the focus on the youngest sister Chloe this time. Chloe is a light in the darkness. The rare soul that believes love overcomes all. She is good through and through, sometimes too innocent and naive, but she has a strength born out of conviction to make the world better for all. She's pure beauty. Vincent Mancini believes that hate rules the world or at least his part of it. His life is full of pain, loneliness; it's ugly and every day is a fight for survival. From the moment he laid eyes on Chloe, he was entranced but knew she deserved so much better than him. He would not touch her with his darkness. However, one night he stepped up to be her hero and let her see a side of him that no one else knew existed. A series of secret notes, secret meetings led to deeper feelings, but also led to danger. Chloe's need to find the truth, to right wrongs, to save Vincent may lead to the ultimate sacrifice. Her life.
From the moment I first heard the name Vincent Mancini I knew he was destined for Chloe. She's an earth angel; he's a dark protector. They are meant for one another. His life was heartbreaking. To grow up never expecting family to show any kindness and to be the source of your greatest pain; to be alone at the best of times, abused at the worst, to be ashamed of your name, would destroy a lesser man. Most would be beaten down and become part of the ugliness themselves. Not Vincent. He couldn't see his own worth, but he never gave himself over to the darkness. Such strength. I love that Chloe was able to show him love and teach him to accept it from others. She validated her belief in love. She made him a better man, but more importantly, she showed him a better way of life. Love and hope. She gave him a life with true family and friends. He gave her himself. This is the story Romeo and Juliet should have been. Young love. Life.
This is ultimately a love story, but it's also a mystery with plenty of suspense and danger. It's a perfect blend. I couldn't put it down past a certain point. I was on edge, waiting to see how it would play out, see the ramifications for everyone. I loved the crossover stories continuing Mads and Max's own love stories and the sister bond. Holden and Cairo are wonderful additions to the Barlow clan. And once again The Hale's are my favorite parents ever! Finally, a word about the Epilogues! They are each a gift. I adored all three. I ended up with warm fuzzies and a huge smile on my face. They made me greedy. Can I make a request? I would love a follow-up book catching up with the Sisters right after Chloe's college graduation. Even a Holiday novella. Just a peak; marriage, babies, enduring love. Please? I fell in love with these girls and their guys. I only want a little more!

Strike Out (Barlow Sisters #2)
by Jordan Ford ****REVIEW
Strike Out returns the reader to the story of the Barlow Sisters. Max Barlow is a baseball prodigy. She is going to be one of the first girls in the country to play for a college baseball team. Her dad has it all planned out for his Maximus. Nevermind that Max is over baseball and dreams of music. Nevermind that when she gets the opportunity to learn guitar, it turns out that she's a natural. Nevermind, that music makes her feel alive, like baseball never has. Music is magic. It's her passion, but Max is too afraid to disappoint her father, so now she's living his dream, hiding her's.
Cairo Hale is the frontman and lead guitar for Velocity. He's beautiful. He's considered a man-whore because there is always a girl on his arm, but he's not. Anything, but. He uses girlfriends as a shield against all of the women who want him. From the moment he sees Max looking at his guitar like it's the treasure he feels it is, he is consumed with the idea of teaching her to play. When this idea comes to be, he's happier than he's ever been. He loves how alive she becomes with music; seeing her pure joy. He loves being the one to bring this magic into her life. It takes him much longer to figure out that he wants more than to only be her teacher. It's hard though since Max is convinced that she will lose him and her music if her father finds out. She convinces him to keep their relationship and the lessons a secret. This creates a wedge between her and her sisters as well at a time when the family is already experiencing a rough patch. Family drama on several fronts and it turns out Max isn't the only one keeping secrets. Some drama can be worked out by talking, some drama turns out to be more serious, even deadly. And secrets end up being revealed sooner or later. Choices must be made. People end up hurt, angry. But the Barlow's are family. They may not agree with each other, they may hurt each other, but they love each other. When times get rough, the sisters draw closer to one another; they always have each other.
Once again, the characters make this story special. Max and Cairo are good together. They bring out the best in one another. Max has never thought for herself. She has always followed the plan set for her by her father. Her father comes across as insensitive, demanding, unobservant, and even uncaring at times, but I don't think he's as bad as it seems. Max is scared and out of her element when it comes to thinking for herself and speaking up for what she wants. I don't think she's truly a coward, just new at going against her father's wishes. Cairo is mostly wonderful. The first full day these two spent together was perfection. He created so many lovely moments, but he wasn't perfect. He was less understanding than he should have been towards Max's justifiable fear of her father because he has the world's greatest parents. We should all be so lucky! He has never had to disappoint his parents or stand against them. He has no idea how painful this can be. As someone who cannot even put pushy women in their place, he shouldn't call anyone a coward. The side characters all add depth to the story. Mads and Chloe play their role as the Barlow Sisters. I can't wait until these girls have worked through their growing pains and are back at full strength. Velocity plays a key role in the story. I love band dynamics and like Roman and Austin. I cannot stand Latifa. She embodies everything I dislike about female characters; nasty, jealous, deliberately hurtful. Nope, not a fan. And Uncle Conrad is a force of nature that impacts everything.
More than anything this is a coming of age story. It's a girl growing up, deciding what truly matters to her, deciding what is worth fighting for. It's about falling in love, showing courage, and becoming your own person. These Barlow Sisters are easy to connect to, easy to love. You can't help rooting for their happiness. This one ends on a scary note. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Curveball (Barlow Sisters #1)
by Jordan Ford ****REVIEW
The Barlow Sisters have a great life in Columbus. Twins Maddie and Max, and younger, by a year, sister Chloe. They are not only sisters but best friends. They are also gorgeous, kick-ass baseball players. Maddie is the tough sister, protective and strong. Max is easy going, focused on her baseball. Chloe is sweet beyond words. Everything changes in the blink of an eye when their dad takes a promotion as sheriff in the little town of Armitage, California across the country.
Obviously, the girls are shaken. Maddie and Max are entering their last semester of high school. They have to leave their friends, boyfriends, and most importantly their team behind. Armitage is nothing like home. The town is run-down and the people seem to be closed off. There is too much crime for such a small town, even at the high school. One theft after another. And to top it all off, the high school only has a boy's baseball team. A team that does not want the girls. Holden Carter, the team's captain makes that clear. He's going to be a problem, in more ways than one. Chloe is immediately smitten. Maddie is infuriated by the gorgeous man, but can't get him out of her mind. Only Max is unfazed by Holden, but she's not acting herself either. She's secretive and disappears regularly. This new town is wreaking havoc on the Barlow sisters.
This is a book of false images. Everyone is putting up a front, hiding secrets. There is unnecessary pain because of all the secrets. So much insecurity, uncertainty, and false assumptions. Maddie with her forthright honesty could not have been placed in a less fitting environment. Holden is the king of false fronts. He has the Carter image to maintain and keeping secrets is his family specialty. Can he let his guard down and show the real Holden. He and Maddie could have something deep and meaningful. Or will he keep his image as golden boy and settle for something light with her sweetest sister Chloe? Will one of the girls get their heart broken? What is going on with Max? Is she in trouble? (I don't think so). And what about the thefts?
Curveball is a great start to the Barlow Sister's series. It manages to tie in baseball, a fantastic high-school romance, and a mystery. The three stories are beautifully woven together into a very entertaining read. The sister bond is amazing. I loved, loved, loved the girl's love for one another. This is a book I wholly recommend; you will enjoy it!

Hear No Evil (Brotherhood #3)
by Jordan Ford *****REVIEW
Hear No Evil is the perfect conclusion to the Brotherhood Trilogy. Jordan Ford is such a fun writer. This entire trilogy has been such a great adventure and this book is no exception. This is Riley's story. And Caitlin's story. And Ryley and Caitlin! It's full of old mysteries, new and old dangers, and a new love. It's frustrating, suspenseful, and entirely satisfying.
Riley and Caitlin are a perfect match. Both are incredibly intelligent and love a good mystery. Both have a love of family and an inner strength. Both will do anything for the people that they love.
This is a fast-paced, action filled book. Lives are on the line from multiple threats. It's impossible to put down. The focus may be on Riley, his past and his feelings for Caitlin, but his story is shared with his "family". I love that we get to continue with Chris and Trey and Jules, Kade, and Ellie. I also appreciate that all loose ends are tied up and we get a glimpse into the future. This is a fitting end to their stories. However, as perfect as it may be as a final book, I hope it's not. I would love for Jordan to write one more book set in the near future, maybe 5 years later. I want another peek into the family's HEA. Eton Wolves Forever!

Speak No Evil (Brotherhood #2)
by Jordan Ford *****REVIEW
Speak No Evil was the second book in the Brotherhood series. As much as I loved the first book, I loved this one even more. I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
It focused on Kade after he left his "family" to find some excitement. He ends up in Reno working as a maintenance guy at a local ice rink/restaurant/bar and playing for the local hockey team. Julienne Bishop is working in the kitchen of the restaurant. She's a pregnant runaway, hiding from an abusive ex-boyfriend. When Jules comes to the aid of Kade one unfortunate night, the two strike up a friendship. They are drawn to one another, but each is living with secrets. There's no trust. Not a good place to start. And when their respective pasts catch up to them, the danger may be too much.
The success of this book was because of Kade. Jules is a good character who comes into her own as the book progresses; she is pure sweetness, but this is all Kade's book. He changes so much during the story. He goes from being a teenager, resentful that his easy life has been ripped away from him to a caring young man. I was not a fan of spoiled Kade, but that changed page by page. His appreciation for food amused me, the flashbacks of his grandparents won me over, and then his feelings for Jules and her baby made me love him. The final conversation on the porch between him and Trey made me a fan for life. His softness, mixed with his strength; the spoiled boy became an upstanding man.
This group of friends; this "family" that Jordan Ford has created is wonderful. She has managed to take a group of teenagers, put them into dangerous situations, have them find love, and still remain true to each other. Their love and support for each other in the end keeps me coming back for more. I can't wait for Riley to find his happiness. As solid as he's been for the guys and their girls, he deserves nothing less than his own happily ever after.

See No Evil (Brotherhood #1)
by Jordan Ford ****REVIEW
I really enjoyed this book. It was so much fun which seems wrong to say considering the seriousness of the situation and the danger the main character is in, but with all the suspense it was a fun read.
Christiana/Ana/Chris is a Miami beach girl, pretty, flirty. She enjoys her life. All that changes when she witnesses her uncle kill her maybe-boyfriend. Ana goes to the police willing to testify against him. She's placed into witness protection at an all boys school posing as Chris. At Eton, she's no longer her pretty, popular self, but a wimpy boy, the target of a bully, and attracted to the hot guy Trey in the room next door. Trey, Riley, and Kade are a self-made family, brothers, a wolf pack.
The boys make the book for me. The attraction that Trey feels for Chris is one of my favorite parts of the book. His confusion over the feelings he has for another guy when he's always been really into girls hysterical. The kiss cracked me up. I also love the bond the 3 boys share; their friendship and their inclusion of Chris. The author does a wonderful job with the characters, their relationships, and the school setting.
The suspense and risk build as the book progresses. Chris's life is threatened from several different fronts; she has entered into a family/mob war that she knew nothing about. It's a fast-paced, enjoyable read. Definitely keeps you on edge. As Trey and Chris fall in love, her life falls into more danger. Can Trey and his brothers save Chris? Will they even get a chance at a HEA? I enjoyed how the story played out and look forward to Kade's adventure.

Paper Cranes (Fairytale Twist #1)
by Jordan Ford ****REVIEW
Jordan Ford captured magic in Paper Cranes. This is a departure from her normal books, but you won't be disappointed. It's a captivating retelling of Rapunzel.
Tristan is in a deep depression following his parent's divorce. He is disillusioned and cynical about love after his mother cheated with her boss. Now he's living with his father acting the role of the adult while his father wallows and drinks his nights away. One afternoon after throwing his neighbor's baseball into the open attic window of the 'haunted' house next door and climbing the trellis to enter the attic, he makes a surprising discovery. The attic is not full of odds and ends but is a magical room. Even more surprising instead of encountering the 'ghost' he has discovered Helena, a beautiful 15-year-old girl, unlike anyone he's ever met before. Helena's mother has had a psychotic break after a family tragedy and has become convinced that the world is a dark, dangerous place. She and Helena have not been outside in years. Helena has existed in her imagination and in the pages of books. She is pure and innocent, untouched by society. Her inner beauty, kindness, imagination, her every view were astonishing. Tristan is drawn to her strangeness but soon finds himself completely enchanted. She teaches him how to lessen his burdens and treasure his joys. The beauty, innocence, and simplicity of their relationship take sweetness to a new level.
Their relationship is difficult, yet their love is true. Their relationship ends all too soon due to yet another tragedy. These two have had a rough adolescence. Their parting is as poignant as their love is pure. It's hard to accept that this is the end of Tristan and Helena. But when you hold another's heart, can it really be over? Aren't they always with you? Does true love really die?
This was truly a touching book. It brought tears to my eyes so many times; sweet tears, sad tears. There were so many important messages. Savor every moment. Enjoy the little things. Hug. The paper cranes will become a part of my own life if I can figure out how to make them. I've never been good at origami, but I feel it's important to have a reminder from Helena for myself. Jordan Ford has shown her range with this book. It's poetic, magical, romantic; a modern day fairy tale. One you will enjoy disappearing into.

Heat Me Up: Masa x Sota (Tails x Horns Short Stories Book 2) by Sophie O'Dare, Lyn Forester
When Shiro invites his friends to a hot springs resort for Imbolc, the fire festival Masa and Sota jump at the chance to spend some time together away from school and their parents. Time to celebrate their mate bond. However, once they get there Mei seems intent to block their every attempt to be alone. If only Mei would give Shiro a chance; then maybe they could all really enjoy the holiday.
I don't think it's possible for anyone to love Masa and Sota any more than I do. I love the Tails x Horns universe. I love the inclusivity, acceptance, and general existence of love in this world. Masa and Sota make it even more perfect. Sota is adorable, silly, and fun. Masa is hot, protective, generous, and incredibly patient. I loved his moment of jealousy. The two together couldn't be more perfect. They compliment and balance one another. One of my favorite all-time young couples. This little getaway with their two closest friends and the introduction of cousin Waen was funny and frustrating. So many interruptions! But when they finally got that alone time they had been wanting, they made the most of it. WOW! So hot. I look forward to future stories of Masa and Sota and meeting new characters in this world.

Just Not You (Tails x Horns #2)
Kiss Me Please (Tails x Horns #1.5)
You to Me (Tails x Horns, #1)
by Lyn Forester *****REVIEW
Sota and Masa, next door neighbors, classmates, best friends. Born hours apart they have gone through everything together but the biggest change of all is coming. At 18 you transition and on the hour of your birth, you grow a tail or horns. Classes change, friends change, mates start to search for one another. Sota and Mesa planned to stay together when each grows a tail but fate intervened. For the first time ever they will be separated if only in class. Neither plans to allow the separation in school to come between their closeness. However, the girls have their sites set on Mesa and a violent bully wants to claim Sota as his own. Is their best friend status at risk, will they drift apart or become even more important to one another?
This is an amazing coming of age story. There are authors that you know you can depend on to fill certain reading desires you may have. You know who to go to if you want a strong heroine or an action-packed story, sexy times or teenage angst. When you pick up a book by Lyn Forester you know that you are going to be transported into another world. Her world building skills are exceptional. The layering, the attention to detail, the subtle nuances she adds change the everyday world we live in into an original creation all her own. But what I have also come to realize is that she is extraordinary at portraying M/M relationships. I first fell in love with her men of Port Lapton, Malachi and Aiden. In House of Glass Declan and Felix are so good together I have concerns for the female of the RH. Now in You to Me, I have found a new young couple to love, Masa and Sota. Masa is the ideal. He's loving, protective, accepting, indulging. Sota is an adorable, sarcastic goof unaware of how cute he is. The two together are a delight. Best friends that know each other, as well as they, know themselves, hidden feelings, new love, lasting love, forever love. Simply perfect. The boy's relationship is a nice balance of sweet and sexy. There's a lot of personal inner thoughts and conversation between the boys and the sexy times are highly enjoyable. Had the book only had these two characters I would have loved it but even the side characters in this book are perfect. The lovely parents; the awkward, unfiltered un-transitioned classmate; the not-so-bad mean girl, the nasty bully, the counselor all fill their role thoroughly.
This book has one other special message that should be mentioned. This is a world where gender and sex are not static, where they don't seem to be slotted into a particular role, and they are not judged. Even the worry over tails and horns seems to be normal teenage angst and not attached to any preconceived stigmas. People are people, love is love. I can't tell you how refreshing that is! On a more superficial note, the new cover is way more eye-catching than the original cover. This book is a true gem.
Hushed is a clever, modern-day spin on the Little Mermaid. RoseMary (Romy) Morgan has just finished with high school and is set to enter college in 3 months. While her friends will all be vacationing during the break, her family believes that the time is better spent working. She has a choice to follow in her mother's footsteps and be a marine biologist or her father's and work at Poseidon Industries. Her sisters have all chosen one of the family paths and Romy is expected to do the same. This is not what she wants, but she hasn't had the courage to break away from what is expected. She feels strongly that she should work to better the world saving endangered species. After a chance rescue of her celebrity crush, Romy is given the opportunity to do something on her own. She becomes the PA of Logan Rush, Hollywood heartthrob while they are filming in Cape Town. This opens up a whole new world for her. Logan and Romy also hit it off romantically, although they keep it a secret to protect her privacy.

The Law of Tall Girls
by Joanne Macgregor *****STAR REVIEW
Absolutely delightful! "The Law of Tall Girls states that no male over the height of six feet shall be permitted to date any female under the height of five foot eight inches" So decreed by Peyton Lane. Peyton is a high school senior who stands at almost 6 feet one inch. In her own words, she's a giant. Her classmates are even more cruel with their name calling. I admit to never knowing the law. I also admit to being guilty of breaking it. Sorry, Peyton! One night at work, tired of being goaded by her co-workers, she enters into an expensive bet. She must get a guy at least 2 inches taller than her to go on 4 dates and the prom. Winner gets $800. She comes up with a list of all of the potentials in her school, but the one she really wants is the new guy, Jay. Unfortunately, he's not available since he's breaking "the law".
This is a perfect romance, but it's so much more. It's a coming of age story. A moving, poignant story highlighting the everyday pain of growing up. It's about learning that how you feel about yourself is more important than what anyone else thinks of you. It proves that we are all actors in our daily life at one point or another, that we all have our shields up now and then. It takes that special friend or a true love to show you how the world actually sees you. You're not normal, of course not, you're someone special.
The book is so outstanding because of the cast of high school misfits. They are awesome. Peyton is adorable; a word that she would never use to describe herself. She's a typical teenage girl; funny, talented, insecure, and needy. She's so easy to identify with. We all have something that makes us insecure in high school; height, weight, hair color (me), sexuality. It turns out that what makes us insecure in high school often makes us stand out later, but as a teen, we want nothing more than to blend in; to "Be normal". That's Peyton. But she's so much more. She is smart and creative. She can act, draw, and design clothing. She's inspired the loyalty of Chloe. Chloe deserves the title of BEST FRIEND EVER. She's protective, supportive, caring, and has a tea for every occasion. She is such a refreshing character in the arena of mean girls. And Jay is deceptively complex. In a world that values the Alpha, the Jock, he is determined to take a different path, follow his passion, and be an actor. The same can be said for his amazing sister. The supporting high school students all added to a diverse and deep cast, realistic of the halls in any high school.
This book evokes so many emotions. I laughed. (I plan to incorporate family bingo into my next Holiday). I got frustrated, irritated, and outraged on behalf of Peyton. I cried for Peyton. I celebrated and cheered Peyton. I swooned over the 'first real kiss'. I wanted to throttle everyone who hurt Peyton. I cried again. This book is truly heartbreaking at times. I was horrified and left feeling raw. I admired the bravery of the characters. I cried for the last time, but this time I was smiling as well. Joanne Macgregor has created a book that sucks you in and makes you feel every emotion along with the main character. It's quite special.

Hushed
Joanne has created a great story and wonderful characters. Both the main characters and side characters are fully developed. Romy's Nana was probably my favorite character in the book. Zeb was wonderful too. Britney and Cilla were not so wonderful. The story had multiple layers and great detail. The passion shown for the sea life was a nice touch.
Logan and Romy are both unhappy with parts of their lives. Romy wants to do something that matters. Logan wants to be taken seriously as an actor and writer, not just seen as a pretty face. As they fall in love, Romy gets more and more confused with what she wants for herself and her future. Her uncertainty steals "her voice". Logan and Romy hit some obstacles that doom their relationship. This is where the book shows it's real depth. The decisions that are made help each figure out what they want out of life; what's important to them. Logan and Romy are great together, but until they can be content and confident with themselves, they won't last. Will their time apart help them to find each other again? Entertaining read to find out.

Scarred
by Joanne Macgregor ****STAR REVIEW
Scarred is a well-written book that I read with a sick feeling in my stomach for the majority of the book. Joanne Macgregor created a character in Sloane that was so full of pain that I physically hurt with her while reading the book. She felt such pain from loss and such guilt that she was nearly drowning in her day to day life. Kudos to Joanne for the swimming part of her life. The fact that she felt most alive and free in the water while struggling most every minute out of it was very poignant.
We start out with Sloane after she has faced nearly a year of tragedy at the beginning of a new school year. She has left her old life behind and is trying to be brave and re-enter the world. She carries both physical and emotional scars from the past year. Luke, her former swimming crush goes to this new school, but instead of continuing the flirtation they once started, he seems to be focusing intense anger, maybe even hatred towards her. Turns out that their lives are more connected by tragedy than either knew. I liked Luke at first. He was mean, but I could understand his misdirected anger. However, Chapter 35 turned me against him. I decided that not only was he mean, but he was also judgmental and a coward. Despite later events, he never won me back over. I can't remember ever having less sympathy with a major character. Once again, I think credit goes to the author for developing such a realistic character and book.
This book is a glance at how one careless action can forever alter many lives. It showcases the triumphs and failures of the human spirit set against a normal high school backdrop. Bullying is shown in so many different ways and in different degrees. Life while forever altered/destroyed for some is swallowed up by the normalcy of humanity as a whole. Wonderful, yet painful, read.

Talk Nerdy To Me (Sterling Shore #12)
Britt Sterling. Genious. Unusual. Virgin. Base Masterson. Singer. When Britt and Base cross paths their lives changed. Base found his muse. Britt found the one to deflower her. They are good for each other; each weird in their own way. Base has plans for his musical future and Britt is too young for a serious relationship. This arrangement will be ideal for both of them. Unfortunately, humans don't always follow the "plan", emotions get involved. It gets messy.
Taming A Maverick (Sterling Shore #11)
Taming A Maverick is part of the truly wonderful Sterling Shore series by CM Owens. These books are one of my reading addictions. I absolutely love the Sterlings and their friends.
Make Me (Sterling Shore #10)
Book 10 of the Sterling Shore series proves once again how good CM Owens is. To be young, rich, and beautiful and to be a part of the Sterling Group. What a dream!
Perfectly Toxic (Sterling Shore #9)
What sets the SS series apart from other series of rich, beautiful friends is the humor. CM Owens has the pattern down; boy and girl meet, instant attraction, they fight it, give in and get together, face an obstacle and break apart, but overcome the problem for their happily ever after. It's a tried and true formula that works if you have the right ingredients; a talented writer, good plot, great characters. This series is a success because it has all three. However, the humor sets it above the other look alike series. These books have steamy sex on one page and a scene that makes you laugh aloud on the next. Great combination.
Identical Disaster (Sterling Shore #8)
By now if you have read the Sterling Shore series in order you feel like a part of the community. You are familiar with all of the Sterling's and their circle of friends. This is the story of Bo (Ruby's bestie) and Jax (owner of the local gym). You also know the rhythm of C.M Owen's books. Boy and girl have intense chemistry, get together but are torn apart by a conflict, then work it out. It's a formula that works because of the characters and the details of their particular story.Bo may be one of the best female leads so far from this series. I loved her and felt very protective of her character. Bo is sweet, she is a pushover and taken advantage of by every person in her life except for Ruby. She is taken for granted by everyone close to her. Jax is a man-whore, not mean, but thoughtless. These two would have never met much less fallen for each other if not for an act of deception.
This book has humor but it also holds so much pain. You will find yourself laughing out loud several times. You will also find yourself with a sick feeling in your stomach and near tears with Bo's pain. Again, C.M. Owens found a way to balance the two and make a most entertaining book. It's a character journey for both characters built into a very good read.
I loved the teaser for Bella and Ethan's book after the ending. I wanted Maverick's book, but this one looks like a must-read as well.
Triple Dare (Sterling Shore #7)
This book is an emotional roller coaster. It's the story of Corbin and Ruby. Ruby is a bad ass, talented, sexy woman who is unfortunately in love with Corbin, caught up in a cycle of friendship-attraction-hurt. Corbin is a bit of a mystery since he hides who he really is and his emotions. He has loved Ruby since childhood, but he is stupid, cowardly, and has never really truly appreciated what he has with her so of course he keeps ruining it. Three times he breaks her heart! After claiming he only sees her as a sister and isn't attracted to her no matter how hard he tries, he sleeps with another girl and naturally Ruby walks in. I was heartbroken along with Ruby when she found him with another girl. I felt her pain more than I should have. When we finally get his reasoning behind his actions, I don't find them good enough. I understand what he's thinking and how he's feeling, but his actions are too self-centered and selfish for me to empathize with him. IMO Ruby could do so much better. I would have walked away and never looked back. But he tripled dared her to forgive him after screwing the other chick. Ruby does setting up years of ridiculous triple dares and secret keeping, instead of dealing with their feeling for one another. Yes, they enjoy their games and yes, the sex is amazing, but I'm not happy with their relationship. I would have preferred more time spent on them as a couple.
A Redo (Sterling Shore #6)
The Sterling Shore Series is addicting. Each book follows the same formula love story, btu the characters are original, their situations unique to them, so each one is entertaining in it's own specail way. Redo is near the top of my favorites
Breaking Even (Sterling Shore #5)
Loved this book in the Sterling Shore series. It's amazing how a book so full of humor can also be filled with such pain. I have a new appreciation for C.M. Owen's after reading this one.
Loving War (Sterling Shore #4)
I am in the minority. Loving War is my least favorite of the Sterling Shore books. Oddly enough I think it may be the best storyline so far, so this is obviously personal and I won't let it influence my review.
The Sterling Boys (Sterling Shore #3)
by C.M. Owens ***REVIEW
A story of friendships, misunderstandings, wasted time, fear, and love. Rain got the short end when it comes to genetics, but hit the jackpot when it comes to loving friends. How anyone could keep from being jealous over her 5 best friends, her boys, the Sterling Boys is beyond me. No wonder girls never liked her. The Sterling Boy's (Dane, Kode, Dale, Corbin, and Mav) love and loyalty for her and vice versa made this book.
Tagged & Ashed (Sterling Shore #2)
by C.M. Owens *** REVIEW
I am a C.M. Owens fan. The Sterling Shores series is turning out to be quite entertaining. Tagged and Ashed (clever title) is a quick read that pulls you in immediately. You begin rooting for these characters from day one. There is some character overlap from book 1 which I love, although I did wonder why Kade wasn't in the book more.
Hooked on the Game
(Sterling Shore #1) by
I enjoyed this book. It's a quick read and easy escape from reality that can be read in a few hours. Kade is a handsome, rich, immature, spoiled boy on the surface and while he definitely is all of these, there's a lot more to him. He's driven to make his grandfather's business a success, he works hard, and much of his image is to set up future success. Raya is a lovely, hardworking good girl, haunted by her father's criminal past. Forced together because of a drunken prank gone terribly wrong, they have a slow-burn romance. No instant love, thank goodness. I love when the leads can't stand each other in the beginning, connect here and there for a few special moments, become friends, and then find a forever love. The pace of this relationship is wonderful and fun.

Fallen Crest Forever (Fallen Crest High #7) by Tijan *****REVIEW
Fallen Crest Forever. The Finish. The Finale. While I am reviewing this book, it's more a final review of the series. Let's face it, if you are reading this 7th book, you are an FC Addict. You adore Mason, Logan, and Sam. You hate Kate, you hate Adam, you like Heather and Nate. You especially hate the Annabitch. You know the entire cast, the history, now you just need to know if they get their HEA.
This book wasn't what I expected. It wasn't my favorite of the series, but it did contain some of my favorite scenes. I did love it, I just wasn't expecting all of the angst. FC 7 focuses on Sam and Mason, specifically Sam. She's been "off" all summer, but that's not exactly true. She's lost. She's spent so much time trying to hold on to Mason and Logan; so scared to lose the two people that she loves the most, that every ounce of her being has been focuses on her "family". She's lost herself. She has little idea of who she is or what she wants for her future. She is emotionally overwhelmed through this entire book putting her relationship at risk. I understood her journey, her search for herself. I didn't understand her approach. Seemed she was borrowing trouble when she didn't need to be. You have a guy and a brother who will stand by you, support you, give you time and space to do whatever you need to do. Work on yourself without hurting them. But that just wouldn't be the Kades. These 3 go about everything like they are going into battle. It's never easy. But the payoff, in the end, is so worth the struggle getting there! I never realized that Sam was the glue that held the family together. Mason is the leader, Logan the jokester, the loyal sidekick. I understood her importance, but not her role.
This book delivers tons of Mason and Sam with steamy sex and touching moments, we also get more Logan and Taylor, Nate, Heather and Channing, Matteo, Adam, and all sets of parents. We even get some new female characters, not all are horrible. It was lovely to get Nate back on solid best friend ground and feel more connected to Taylor; she's adorable. Still, she's not one of the fearsome threesome. Every other character, while they are important and add to the story, are still background. This series revolves around Mason, Logan, and Sam. This book gives us what we want. Tijan knows the love her fans have for these characters and this was her present for our love and loyalty.
This book is well-written, full of angst, full of love, full of "feels". It was so bittersweet knowing that the final page ends this incredible series. For years we have followed Mason, Sam, Logan, etc. We've joined in their fights, celebrated with them, loved them. Now it's over. It's hard to accept. Hopefully, novellas will follow. We all know this series doesn't end without a HEA. You'll have to read to know how they get there, the details, and what their futures look like. Know that it is everything you could hope for, no matter what that might be. Also, know that you may need a box of tissues. It's an emotional ending. Logan can usually bring you to tears of laughter, this time he will cause tears for different reasons. It was so moving, so touching, so appreciated. Thank you Tijan! thank you for creating such an entertaining series with these characters that we all love so, so much. Don't forget about them. We won't mind if every few years they drop by with a short novella. #FCF

Fallen Crest Home (Fallen Crest High #6)
I've always said that Fallen Crest is my guilty pleasure. This continues to be true, but how on earth could I be expected to resist! It's so, so good! This series is completely addictive. The characters, the story, the suspense, the tensions and danger, the sexual attractions, but especially Sam and Mason.
As the title indicates the group has gone back home for the summer. It's a time for confrontations. Time to settle old debts, face the ghosts of the past, time to face inner demons and grow up. Sam and Mason pay the price for their pasts. It's hard, but it's time. Everyone plays a part in this book; Logan and Taylor, Nate, Heather and Channing, Adam and Becky, Matteo, every parent (biological, step, adoptive), and several old enemies. Mason is a rock. He's everything that you could ever want. There's something special about a guy who will literally do anything for the woman he loves. Sam is a mess; strong one moment, a lost child the next. It's actually very realistic. You don't magically get over a childhood like her's just because you meet two amazing brothers. She can't keep running forever. I felt more hope for her future by the book's end than ever before. Logan is still Logan, and you have to love him. I'm slowly warming up to Taylor, but they still aren't a perfect fit for me. Nate was better in this book, this is the most I have liked him so far. And Heather is always awesome. It was fantastic to catch back up with everyone. These characters, I can't say enough...
Tijan proves once again that she is a master storyteller. This book is well-written, fast-paced, full of action, twists and turns, and a cliff-hanger that takes your breath away. As much as I can't stand this series ending, I CAN'T wait to see what happens next.

Logan Kade (Fallen Crest High #5.5)
I will be honest, I started reading this book because of its title. A title made up of names of two of my favorite people. I had no expectations and haven't read the main series it is an offshoot from. I had no idea there was even a series. So again, no expectations, no preconceived ideas of what I wanted from the character or his voice, no history with the character. I think it may have made the book more enjoyable. I love Logan Kade and his live life like he wants, no apologies, no regrets ways. I am usually not a fan of a fighting man-whore, but he owned it and was honest about who he is. He made some choices that bothered me greatly, but I understood them. I loved his relationship with Taylor. It was interesting to think that a man this bad could help heal anyone, but he was what she needed. I like that he helped her "feel" again. I enjoyed his side characters, but not Taylor's. Mason, Sam, and Nate were all interesting and loyal friends. Taylor's choices in friends and exes were questionable. The book may have been in Taylor's voice, but the focus was on Logan so it kept me entertained. I would have liked the story to explore their relationship further once they discovered what they were to each other. it seemed like a quick tying up at the end, but other than that very satisfying book.

Fallen Crest Christmas (Fallen Crest High #5.25) Tijan ****REVIEW
Perfect little short story. Mason and Sam will always be one of my favorite couples and Logan is just great. Fallen Crest is my guilty pleasure and anytime I can catch up with these three I am a happy reader. These short stories were perfect, happy, funny. Perfect for an hour read!
Fallen Crest University (Fallen Crest High #5) by Tijan ****REVIEW
What a year. Sam and Logan couldn't have asked for more drama as freshman, Mason is trying to juggle football, school, and keep his loved ones safe, and Nate takes the first and hardest hit. Sebastian is a problem and one more dangerous than they even knew.
It's great to see Sam come into her own. We knew last year that things had changed. She's the top runner in the state. She no longer lives in constant anxiety, she has a best friend, a true mom, her brother Logan and her love Mason. But now she's taking it a step further. She wants to be the one to protect Mason. Logan has Mason's back; always has, always will, but he steps it up in this book. Nate is on the right side. So they can't possibly lose, right? The problem is Sebastian thinks and fights like Mason does, but he has unknown connections, unknown plans, and no honor. So once again our main leads are threatened both physically and emotionally. These books just keep getting more entertaining. Loved how this one played out and am anxiously waiting for the next. Someday we will get our happily ever after, but until then it's a hugely entertaining read!

Fallen Fourth Down(Fallen Crest High #4) by Tijan *****REVIEW
Tijan is a master at creating obstacles and Sam and Mason face plenty in this book; some old threats, Marisa, Tate, old lovers; some new threats, Sebastian. And then there's Logan and what he may or may not feel for Sam. The friendship with Nate may not be as strong as they once thought. However, inside threats may do the most damage to 'the family' With Mason and Sam both keeping secrets trust may be permanently damaged.
This one was difficult because of the separation. I didn't believe that temptation would play a role in a possible break-up, but you never know what misunderstandings can arise when distance is placed between a couple and misunderstandings can result in endings. The family needs to be together to be strong.
This book also made me see why Logan Kade had to have his own book. Such a good character. Good looking, loyal, amusing man-whore that he is there's a layer of anger, pain, and vulnerability that makes him irresistible. Kris is definitely not worthy. Sam could have been, but it had to be Mason for her. This book made it clear that Logan deserves his own happily ever after!
The story keeps you anxious for all three from beginning to end. It's filled with more pain than good times, but not once do you lose faith in the bond that they all share. Somehow you have to believe it will work out. Ending actions set up a very interesting next school year. Great read.

Fallen Crest Public (Fallen Crest High #3)
These books are my guilty pleasure. They are the book equivalent to reality television and just as addicting. I loved jumping back in the the world of the Kade Brothers and Sam. Sam, Mason, and Logan are all together finally at Public. Mason's football path is clear and now Sam has a chance to join him at University after high school with a running scholarship. Sam's mom isn't a threat anymore, but the jealousy surrounding her being with Mason is dangerous both to her mental and physical well-being from two different fronts. Mason's solution to keeping her safe from one of the biggest threats was nearly too much for me. This man will stop at nothing to get the end result he wants; collateral damage is nothing, even hurting Sam.
The introduction of Heather is a welcome one. It's about time Sam gets a good friend. She has 'the family' but every girl needs a bestie. And we get Malinda, a mom for Sam. I loved that we finally start to gather good females around her because so far she has had the worst of females. Tate moving back, on the other hand, is not good news. And her little bombshell at the end sets major problems in the future. Can't wait!

Fallen Crest Family (Fallen Crest High #2)
Tijan ****REVIEW
These books are so entertaining. This one is no exception. Mason and Sam are great together, but this seems to be the only good part of her life. Jealous girls torment her, rejected guys turn even those she thought were with her against her. Her mom is crazy, her dads are absent. Her running is an escape that is close to an obsession.
The worsening craziness of Analise added another layer to the book. Psycho is the only fitting word. Her character adds drama, threats to both Mason and Sam, and a bit of black humor. Logan's always a riot, but when dealing with her, he is hysterical. Her efforts to destroy Sam and Mason as a couple are a true threat but Mason, Sam, and Logan are family. They will stay together and together they can overcome. Great read!

Fallen Crest High (Fallen Crest High #1)
by Tijan ****REVIEW
I picked up this book after reading Logan Kade. I enjoyed it so an entire series featuring the Kade brothers sounded like a good bet. I loved this first book. Mason Kade did not disappoint. He's so good-looking; the power this man wields is a huge turn-on, and his untouchable attitude makes him irresistible. Samantha is beautiful, but unaware, damaged to the point that she's fragile and seems to be hanging on by a thread (a running thread). One rules the high school, the other tormented by the high school. It doesn't seem like a good idea, but it is meant to be.
It starts with explosive sexual attraction but goes deeper quickly. Sam and Mason both come from broken homes and bad parenting. Thrown together when their miserable parents get together a bond is established that won't be broken. It's mutual need. Add in Logan and it's a family like no other. Very entertaining book.

Mason (Fallen Crest High 0.5)
I have been so hesitant to read this book that I put it off for over a year. I love Mason, but only the Mason I know with Sam. Of course, I know he wasn't a saint before falling for her, but I didn't want any more details. However, I was in need of a Tijan fix, so I went against my better judgment and read Mason. I loved/hated it. I love Tijan. I love the Fallen Crest series. I hate Mason sleeping around. I have a misguided sense of loyalty to Sam and feel like he's cheating on her. It's ridiculous since they haven't met yet when he's sleeping his way through the female population, but that's how I feel.
This is a good addition to the series. It covers their early high school years including the end of their parent's marriage. It's the period right before they completely rule Fallen Crest. The beginning of the Legend's, so to speak. It provides more insight into Mason, Logan, and even Nate. I like getting the full story of how Mason and Logan came to be as strongly united as they are. Their family life sucked. It wasn't as bad as many have it growing up, but still, it was bad enough to damage both of them. Both parents disgust me. I love Mason's protectiveness towards Logan and Logan's hero worship of his older brother. My heart broke for both of them at times. I also really enjoyed getting to know Nate better. I never really understood how the bond was so strong between him and Mason before seeing what a good friend he was before being sent off. I hate Kate even more than I did originally after reading this book. Didn't think that was possible! Not a fan of Tate's either. My opinion of the FC girls didn't improve with more backstory.
I loved seeing the first contact between Mason and Sam in the Quickie's parking lot, but I was disappointed that the book ended right then. A companion novel to the first book, to see everything from Mason's view would be wonderful! I can't get enough of these two. This was a good Tijan fix, but I really need the next FC books to be released!!

The Boy I Grew Up With
by Tijan ****REVIEW
They met in the first grade. Best friends by the third grade. Held hands in the fifth, kissed in the seventh. She had loved him her entire life. He had loved her from the beginning. Love was never their problem. Sex was never their problem. She's caught between worlds. She isn't his main priority. Crew first. Sister next. Town after that, then maybe her. She should have walked away years ago. He should have let her go. But there has never been a couple meant to be together more than Heather and Channing.
Each book brings Tijan closer to the author I love. There were many parts of this book that were perfect. Many that were close. And some that missed the mark.
The perfect: How she continued to pop up at such random moments. Having experienced this myself, that's as realistic as it gets. The craziness of Stalker. From her introduction to her inclusion, she cracked me up with her insanity. Mannies. I loved getting this behind the scenes, in-depth look into Heather's place and getting to know all of her employees/family. The last several chapters leading up to a HEA. Dreams come true and then some. The bonus scene with the FC crew. Sam and Mason will always be my favorites. Every other character pales next to them.
The close: The flashbacks. I really enjoyed young Heather and Channing. It seemed as if some of the things weren't age-appropriate, however. In 5th grade, they are trick-or-treating (Yes), but then by 7th grade Channing has tattoos?? Did he sleep around when she turned to FC? One minute it seemed as if she was his one and only, but that's never been the image we've been given from the FC books. Did he turn his back on his love for Heather and sleep around? This is crucial because the only way he ever really showed his love for her was through sex, not actions, so if he slept around, it's even worse than a regular man-whore. Moose, Lincoln, Chad, and Congo. I love Channing's friends, if only they hadn't been tarnished by being crew.
The missed: I'm not a fan of Roussou and its crews so that complicates these stories. It's not the seediness or the violence, it's just not entertaining to me. Too much emphasis on crew. Channing and Heather had a toxic relationship for too many years. Love isn't always best. If you can only have sex but never share feelings, that's not love, that's lust. They couldn't share their lives beyond a certain point and yet they wouldn't walk away and allow the other to truly live. Toxic. Channing never put her first, Heather was an enabler. It bothered me that beautiful, strong, caring Heather Jax that I know as Sam's best friend didn't demand more for herself. Channing was an addiction and needed to be cut off like her cigarettes. This was never more clear than after their loss. It hurt me that she was put through so much pain by her best friend/lover over the years. His actions from seventh grade on cheapen those titles. The man that all of Roussou admired was selfish and carelessly cruel with Heather's heart.
Overall, I am happy with Heather and Channing's story. It was much like I expected. I do not look forward to a return to Roussou and Bren's story but I am excited about the sneak peek from her secret project book. Regardless, I can't walk away from Tijan's books any more than Heather could walk away from Channing!

Crew (Crew #1)
Roussou is not a soft place to live. It's not Fallen Crest with its mansions and country clubs. It's rough and there are rules. You can be a normal, a cheerleader, jock or student council member or you can be crew. Crews run Roussou. The original crew, Channing's Crew; the largest crew, the Ryerson Crew; and the 4 member Wolf Crew with the only female, Bren. They aren't like some of the other crews. There's no initiation, they have each other's backs always, and they do not date within the crew. You touch one of them, they will all hurt you. They are one. They are family. But things are changing. Normals aren't respecting boundaries, Alex Ryerson is overstepping, and Bren has fallen in love with one of her crew.

Brady Remington Landed Me in Jail
Loved this book. Tijan once again created two characters Rayna and Brady and wove a story around them that captivated me for an entire afternoon. Rayna is a sheltered graduating senior in love with her best friend Brady. Brady is the town bad boy; a fighter, promiscuous, but lovable. Throw in Rayna's grandparents, Kid, even a deputy and a few classmates, and it's a good cast.
After another arrest and bail-out by Rayna, Brady shows a moment of vulnerability and that's all it takes for Rayna to surrender her virginity. Everything changes between the best friends and Rayna's life goes from being simple to overwhelming confusion within days. Their journey during the last week of Rayna's senior year is such an entertaining read. I couldn't get enough of Rayna and Brady. This is a little lighter than many Tijan books, but not emotional fluff. Still deals with emotional pain, secrets, lies, betrayals, love. It's remarkable how much can change in a week. The book is an emotional roller coaster, and I loved the ride. So much so that I would like another ride, maybe during the college years (and include Kid).

Broken and Screwed 2 (Broken and Screwed #2) by Tijan *****REVIEW
Book 2 picks up with Alex arriving on campus and heading straight to Jesse's house for answers. She's angry and tired of being ignored. After walking in on more than she bargained for, she discovers Jesse isn't home and his roommate Cord (a great candidate for his own book) and moves into the dorm. She instantly makes enemies and a possible new friend. She also gets a call from Jesse. It seems that maybe these two may have a chance. But it can't be that simple in a Tijan book! I loved the new characters in this book. Jesse's teammates/roommates, their girlfriends, Alex's friends. Great cast.
Alex is stronger, angry, still hurting, and confused. Jesse isn't much better. He has his own family drama as well as dealing with Ethan's death still. Her parents aren't, her new friends are broken, but better than her last friends. Baby steps, but it seems that Alex may be okay in the end. But every time I think things are getting better, reality levels her again. I even find myself frustrated with her at times. Face your emotions, speak up, talk to Jesse! But when the truth starts coming out, it all falls apart. Secrets can't be revealed for whatever reason and Alex finds she must walk away from Jesse again. Numbness reigns again. Jesse understands what is at stake now and is determined to find a way to fix everything. The first book and most of this one made me feel like I was broken along with Alex. By the end, the fix, I was all better too. Tijan does a masterful job of rebuilding broken lives' broken people. I found myself with a huge smile and happy tears during the final pages. So good.
Sidenote: I loved the insertion of Luke, Bri, and Sustain!

Broken and Screwed (Broken and Screwed #1) by Tijan *****REVIEW
Tijan used to be my guilty pleasure; an indulgence. Now I am beginning to think she may partly be my therapist. Her characters hit a little too close to home at times. She has a basic formula. Damaged characters meet, often as young children and grow up together, have a falling out, meet even harder times, come back together, struggle, and finally come through to the other side, healthier, stronger, happier. The formula works. It's never pretty, often harsh, but always entertaining. I find I read most of her books with a knot in my stomach. Too close to home.
Broken and Screwed focused on the life of Alex after her older brother, Ethan's death. She's a mess, barely going through the motions of her own life and in love with her brother's former best friend, Jesse. Jesse is a gorgeous basketball star, wanted by all, and an incredibly broken boy himself. These two hook up, but outside of that have little contact. It's destroying Alex even more. Alex's parents have abandoned her in their grief. Alex's best friends are Marissa and Angie. Marissa can't be trusted and goes after Alex's guys and Angie's life has been too simple and sweet to allow her to understand Alex's pain. Alex is a shell, basically alone; waiting for hook-ups with Jesse, trying to hold on. Outwardly, she seems in a fog even while securing a full scholarship to college; inwardly she's spiraling even further downward. She finds out a bit of a mystery around her brother's last months that seems to motivate her a bit for answers, but then a letter from her dad has her hit a new low.
The pain in this book is almost too much. While it may seem self-destructive to be available to Jesse, it seems so wrong for Alex to walk away when she does. Sometimes healing is slow and comes about through what appears to be harmful and self-medication comes in forms other than drugs or alcohol. Jesse could be the only thing holding Alex together. It seems that being with him is the only tie she's safe. The book ends after graduation with Alex alone. I was relieved that she was packing for college because I couldn't help but be afraid for her and the chance of no future. I ordered book 2 the minute I finished the last sentence of this book. I need for the knot to be unraveled.

Hate To Love You
by Tijan ***REVIEW
Kennedy Clark was punished in high school over her brothers. Girls and guys used her, mistreated her, and betrayed her to get close to her brothers or to get back at them. She was deeply hurt and built up tall walls to keep it from happening again. When she got to college, she had a plan; keep who her brothers were hidden, fly under the radar, study hard, and NO DRAMA. Shay Coleman, star quarterback, BMOC, blew that plan out of the water. Kennedy caught his attention their first day of class. She hated him at first glance. However, by not encouraging him, flirting with him or succumbing to his charm; by being defensive, even rude, she kept his interest. Class kept throwing them together until the inevitable happened. Kennedy might hate him, but her body loves him. The two embark on a hidden affair until a horrible event makes Shay lose control and go public. From that point on, the pair are an item, but there are still issues to be worked out and dangers to their happiness.
Kennedy was a bit too prickly for me. I understood her hurt, and the desire to be recognized for herself and not as an extension of her brothers. Wasn't she smart and gorgeous herself? Wasn't she worthy of people trying to use others to get closer to her? I don't understand why she didn't have merits all on her own, why she needed to be so isolated. I don't believe she needed to be so harsh to everyone and she didn't need to deny her brothers. College is not high school. Her brothers are not the only good looking guys around! And I hope that we females aren't all so desperate that we are constantly trying to hurt each other to get a cute guy's attention. Back to Kennedy, she could have cut off the users and still been nice to the general public. They kept talking about her gooey insides, all bark, no bite. I never saw the inner sweetness. And Shay was superficial. He existed more as a beautiful, sexy image than someone with depth. No deep conversations until forced for this guy. Kennedy didn't trust people out of fear, Shay didn't see the need to get close enough to even need trust. The side characters were not much better. I did love Linde, but the girls were only partially developed and Gage was a terrible brother/guy at times.
There were a few parts I loved; Kennedy's humor when she let her guard down when Shay called Kennedy - Clarke, the notecard scene, Shay's reaction at the hospital, almost every interaction with Linde, Kennedy's mother. Her mother was hysterically original! There were a few things I didn't like. Kennedy's temper and violent streak seemed overblown. A two-week concussion, then all better? Doubtful with what happened. Missy, friend, and cousin. Sabrina's lingering feelings. And I didn't like the ending. When Shay couldn't be reached and didn't return calls, I assumed he was with Sabrina. That felt like it was building into something that would need to be addressed. I felt uneasy with how the scene went. I need all concerns laid to rest.
I did enjoy this book but found it predictable. I did have the usual moments of angst that I feel with all Tijan books but was also a little disappointed. There was little originality. This one shared many of the same characteristics of her other books. Tijan fans will love it and I did like it, but hoped for more.

Carter Reed (Carter Reed #1)
by Tijan ****REVIEW
This book is so wrong in so many ways. But it's so right in many others. Tijan has created an entertaining book in a dark world. Murder rules their lives. Danger is part of the everyday. Yet the most horrific act results in a passionate love being realized. Carter and Emma have not seen each other since Emma's brother's death, but both have followed the other's life closely. They're thrown back together when Emma goes to Carter for help.
Anti-Stepbrother
by Tijan *****REVIEW
Before I can review this book, I must comment on the cover. This model is worthy of hours naughty daydreams. Yummy! Now on to the actual book... this is not a typical Tijan read. Sure there's angst, drama, sexiness, conflict, a solid storyline, and great characters; but it lacks the level of grittiness present in many of her books. These characters are college students who have known good times and bad; they haven't faced the worst life can offer. I love Tijan's emotional rawness, but this was a refreshing change. She proved her range of great character writing once again.
Summer isn't the typical lead female. She's beautiful and smart, but socially awkward and completely random. Her quirkiness is delightful. She's also in love with her step-brother Kevin. Kevin is a selfish, thoughtless, a man-whore who's best quality is his pretty face. That actually may be his only good quality. Summer may head to college to be with Kevin but instead gets he breaks her heart. However, she strikes up a friendship with Kevin's fraternity brother Caden. They are an unlikely pair, Caden doesn't really do the friend thing, but Summer amuses him, surprises him, and soothes him. She worms her way into his life. He's protective of her, so sweet, and later on addictive. It's obvious that they both care more than they are willing to admit, but neither is ready to admit it. This book takes directions I didn't see coming. There is such emotional depth; something I appreciate in every Tijan book. Caden and Summer make for one of my favorite Tijan couples. Both suffer from a loss but aren't carrying the heavy baggage of many of Tijan's characters. There is so much caring, affection, passion, and humor between the two. I never thought a sexy love scene could also make me laugh aloud. I couldn't put this book down once I started reading even as I dreaded reaching the end. I wanted more. I want a second and third book featuring Caden and Summer. Please!!

Still Jaded (Jaded #2)
by Tijan ****REVIEW
Well, I finally found a Tijan written book that I don't love! Don't get me wrong, Still, Jaded is well written, the story is solid, the characters are still true to themselves. However, this is the book where it all falls apart. It's more than I could deal with. I read Tijan for the emotions that she triggers in me. Her books are my own personal form of therapy. They bring out painful emotions, we sort through them together and then find our happily ever after. No matter what happens in book 3, I don't see any chance for this to work out for everyone. Someone is going to be left and left in pain. I'm going to need to read the next book before I can move on from the mess this one created.
Jaded (Jaded #1)
by Tijan ****REVIEW
I read certain authors for certain reasons. This one for her great characters, that one for suspense, this one for great story-telling, that one for the relationships. Tijan gives me all of these; wonderful characters, steamy sex, suspense, a great story, but none of these are the main reason that I read and love Tijan. Her writing makes me feel; each one brings out so much strong emotion. It's not always a positive emotion, although it usually ends with happiness, but along the way, I have fear, anger, angst. To elicit such strong disturbing emotions with words on a page is talent.
Jaded is the story of Sheldon and her best friends Corrigan and Bryce. None are particularly likable, but all are gorgeous and at the top of the high school social set. They're cruel. This starts as a story about three bullies that skip school, drink, and have sex. I wasn't sure if I even liked their strong friendships and relationship. However, the more I got to know the characters, I began to care for them. I even became protective of Sheldon. These are people who truly need one another and who will do anything to stay together. They support and defend each other, love each other, they are family. Sheldon is maybe the most broken of Tijan's girls yet. I wasn't sure she would come through for a happily ever after. She's so self-punishing and so tough to love that at times I wondered if she should just give up. And as the main plot evolves it seemed as if she might not even get the chance. This book is so suspenseful; impossible to put down. The book played out in a most enjoyable way. I plan to read the second one as soon as I get a chance. Again, these characters aren't cookie cutter cuties; they are spoiled and mean, they have their own set of rules, their own code of friendship, but they make for a great read.

A Whole New Crowd (A Whole New Crowd #1) by Tijan ****REVIEW
I don't do spoilers, but every once in a while I run across a book that makes it really hard not to. A Whole New Crowd is one of those books. It makes me want to discuss certain scenes; characters actions or reactions. I loved it. Tijan is a master at what she does; her books are hard, gritty, ugly, but infused with love, deep friendships, loyalty. They are completely entertaining. Tijan follows a formula, but each book has it's own original flavor and her range expands with each. This book was one of the most suspenseful books I've run across. It captured my interest and took me on a fun read.
Fighter
by Tijan ****REVIEW
I would maybe have given this a 5 star had it been longer. I didn't realize just how short it was so I was a bit disappointed to start and finish within an hour. However, it was a book by Tijan, so I did enjoy it. This is a change of pace for Tijan; her version of a Christmas story. Fighter is a book about the lone girl in a family of 8 bounty hunter brothers. Their current target is her ex-boyfriend/ love of her life. It may not sound like light reading, but it isn't dark. It's more humorous than the typical Tijan read, but does have the snarkiness she's so good about. There's passion, love, and good-looking people, a touch of violence, and a happily-ever-now. What more could you ask for? A full-length story about Jax and Dale obviously!
Kian
by Tijan ***REVIEW
I have become a big fan of Tijan over the last few months. Her books are as a rule entertaining, quick reads. She has a formula and it works well. Kian is a little different but still contained the hot bad boy (Kian) and a "broken" girl, ("Jo"/ Jordan).
Kian has just been released from jail after killing Jordan's step-father. Jordan has been hiding in college as Jo. Now that Kian is free but may not stay that way her life becomes so much more complicated. Her FBI agent /surrogate father has warned her to be more careful, to avoid Kian at all costs. Easier said than done when Kian finds her immediately. Then there's the problem of her attraction to him. Kian is the first character that I didn't know what to think about. He's beyond hot and sexy, he has a magnetic bad boy draw, but I wasn't sure if he could be trusted. I couldn't tell if he was being upfront or if Jo needed to run for safety. His intentions weren't clear for the longest time, maybe because they deviated from the public's interests and his family's interests.
Kian turned out to be a complicated character. He was so convinced that he is bad, possibly evil. He doesn't understand that he did a bad thing for the right reason. He was a young man full of anger, he snapped when he saw a truly bad person torturing the one person he felt was good. He acted; he had to save the girl he felt connected to. He was saving her and his sister. He was taking control in the world where his father controlled everything. He was never bad. No one 100% bad would take the steps to protect a weaker human like he did. He acted time and time again to keep Jordan safe, happy. Watching Kian and Jordan come together, start to heal, and find happiness made for a good read.

Home Tears
by Tijan ****REVIEW
Home Tears is a story about history repeating itself, family, betrayals, pain, loss, and coping. Family as an ideal should be a strength, our foundation, but for many, it is the opposite. Dani left town the day after her childhood best friend/sweetheart let her for her younger sister. She's been gone for 10 years and has now returned. Her younger sister has passed away and her former boyfriend is now engaged to her older sister. Dani has survived a natural disaster and has emotional scars to add to the ones she received from her family while growing up.
I love Dani. She may have been weak and run away from her past, but sometimes you need to leave to survive. Her family is truly dysfunctional, but she has always thought that the problem was with her. When she figured out that being away hadn't helped her, she went home to heal. Once home she was faced with the problems she left behind; Jake, the ex-boyfriend, Julia, her older sister, her aunts, the town gossips, her younger sister's ghost, and her ex-fiancee from her years away. She also becomes friends with former school acquaintances and develops something more with Jonah. Jonah is the "water whisperer", former high school bad-boy. He's perfect for Dani.
The story itself is a bit convoluted and takes off on tangents that don't always get resolved. The town is a small-minded, petty place. I'm not sure there has ever been a place with more secrets.
If this book had been only about Dani and Jonah I would have rated it a 5 star. I loved every scene with just these two and wanted more. I couldn't get past Dani's family and Jake. Jake is horrible. You do not go from one sister to the next and sisters don't allow it. Dani's sisters don't deserve the title sister. I understand forgiveness for the sake of one's self, but you do not have to let these people have any role in your life. I never saw any remorse or true regrets from Jake or Julia or even Erica. They never truly apologized and it was clear that they weren't planning to change. They rationalized all of their bad behavior. I found them unacceptable. The fact that this was a generational issue made it all much worse for me.
Still, I did enjoy the book. Even when Tijan is not at her best, she is still better than most. Her books never fail to entertain me in some way.

Finding My Wings (White Dove Book 2)
by
Somewhere to Belong (White Dove Book 1) by Maya William ****REVIEW
Somewhere to Belong, the first of the White Dove Books is fantastic. Samantha has been raised in a Catholic boarding school. She has been educated, sheltered, and bullied, she has not been loved. Her best friends are nuns. She's not unhappy, but she's definitely not happy either. She enjoys her close relationship with God, helping in the kitchens, and she loves her ballet. But now after an unfair incident, life as she knows it is over. She's sent home to a family that is no longer the one she knew and it isn't welcoming. Surrounded by strangers, she finally stands up for herself. She doesn't want to be shipped off to another boarding school, she wants to get to know her family, she wants to get to know herself. She's been so sheltered that she is scared of life.
Samantha is an incredible main character. She's so complex. She's smart, yet naive; she wants to embrace life more, but she's scared. She's been so sheltered, she misses a lot of what happens around her (sarcasm, flirting, joking), and then a moment later she silences a room with her wisdom. She's adorably quirky with her inner monologue with the Big Guy. Above all, she is kind, charming, innocent, and lovable. I feel that even though she wants to experience more of the world, that she will always stay true to herself. There's an inner strength.
The book takes place over the span of a week, yet it is a life-changing week for Samantha. It's well written, from Sam's perspective. There is a large cast of characters, some more likable than others. We've been introduced to everyone and have a general idea of their personalities, but I look forward to more. I feel that there are secrets surrounding most. I'm not even certain we have their true names and ages. There are almost too many to keep up with at times, but several started becoming more real. Zach grew on me, while Abigail did not. I didn't care for the excuses some made for her meanness. Samuel, Joy, Archie, Oliver, and Barb have won me over, but Lyra and Kellen haven't made much of an impression yet. The O'Flannagan's seem wonderful. I want to unravel more of the mystery surrounding their covert work as well. There is so much in store for Samantha. She is an enigma trying to find her fit in life's puzzle. I worry for her innocence. I don't want her seriously hurt due to it. I look forward to book 2.
