Break Your Heart (Bounty Ba... Break Your Heart (Bounty Bay #5)

                by     *****REVIEW
One little lie. Well, maybe not so little. Sam Ngata is trying to get a contract with a US investor for the family's successful wood carving business, Kauri Whare. This contract would secure the future for his family and their employees. The only problem is that he let the investor, a big family man, believe that he is in a serious, committed relationship and that he and his girlfriend will be happy to host the investor's family for a visit in a week's time. Sam may be a master craftsman but he is not relationship material. More like he is a master playboy. Vee Sullivan is a single mom and one of the partners of Bountiful. With their clothing lines expanding, the ladies really want the last store in Kauri Whare’s newest retail space but Vee's pride won't allow her to ask for a mate's rate. So when Sam comes to Vee asking if she will be his girlfriend for a week offering to waive three months on a year-long lease for the retail spot, Vee is tempted. The only thing holding her back is her fear of actually falling for Sam. Years ago Vee crushed on her best friend Tui's older brother, Sam. How will she be able to protect her heart while pretending to be his? But it's a risk she has t take to secure the future for her and her little girl.
Break Your Heart is another in the long line of Tracey Alverez's Kiwi romances. And like all of the others, it is perfection! Heartwarming, funny, romantic, and sweet. It touches on so many emotions. Sam and Vee join the best book couples list. Vee is stubborn, prideful, sweet, and talented. Sam is charming and totally oblivious to what he really wants and who he really is. They both manage to overcomplicate and oversimplify each situation at the same time. Impressive. These two are a complete mess and ideal for one another. Precious little Ruby is an added bonus. She adds so many aaahh moments. And Turbo is hysterical. The bathing suit scene is priceless. This pretend family is surrounded by the Ngata family, their friends, and others in the community making it seem so real. I love how all of the past characters continue to have a role in each book. I feel like I am catching up with friends as I start reading. And once I start reading, I am immersed, lost to the real world, happily visiting NZ.

Mend Your Heart (Bounty Bay... Mend Your Heart (Bounty Bay #4)

                     by Tracey Alvarez   *****STAR REVIEW
Five years ago Natalie Fisher lost her husband, All Black's rugby star Jackson Fisher. Olivia Fisher lost her father. He died after a championship game when he was out celebrating with his best friend/teammate Isaac Ngata. A car jumped a curb and tragically took Jackson's life while injuring another, and leaving Isaac broken and scarred. As if the tragedy wasn't bad enough scandal accompanied it with the young woman along with the two men. Lucy Gilbert was engaged, each of the men were taken; she shouldn't have been with the men and her presence caused a fight that put the two best friends on the corner in the car's path. Because Lucy was with Isaac, Jackson lost his life, Isaac lost his best friend and career, and Natalie and Olivia were left alone and devastated. Natalie has spent five years avoiding Isaac, holding him to blame. Isaac has lived that time in emotional and physical pain. Now Olivia wants to play rugby; it's in her blood after all, but her school needs a coach. Olivia guilts her father's best friend/her "uncle" to step up, step back into his sport, and help. Because of his past, the school asks Natalie to assist him, be a go-between with him, the girls, and the parents. Now rugby is back in their lives and the past has caught up to Isaac and Natalie. Can they finally reveal the complete story, face past crimes, and put them to rest? Is forgiveness within reach? Can they find happiness again?
This book is "Sweet as, as the Kiwi saying goes". No one does second chance romance like Tracey Alvarez. Overcoming past pain, taking a chance on love, letting go of anger and remorse; these are difficult goals. Add in a strong physical attraction for one another and 30 teenage girls learning to play rugby and it's clear Natalie and Isaac are in deep. Both feel the ghost of Jackson, but there's something real between them. However, Isaac has secrets; potentially devastating to Natalie and to their budding relationship. It's easy to understand why he "doesn't want to adult today"! But, it's time; time to drink that delicious cup of perfectly made, organic coffee, step back into life and make things right with his best friend's family.
Tracey creates the best characters. She sets them in everyday worlds with everyday joys and hurts. The combination is extraordinary. This New Zealand world of Bounty Bay now rivals the one of Stewart Island. The Maori touch elevates this little corner of NZ. The bits of language, long-standing customs, and daily traditions add such value. I laughed, teared up, suffered anxiety, frustration, and joy with these characters. I love these books. They're happiness in page form. I welcome each story and look forward to the next. Each one is a gift to my heart.

Teach Your Heart (Bounty Ba... Teach Your Heart (Bounty Bay #3)

                     by Tracey Alvarez   *****STAR REVIEW
Teach Your Heart is the 3rd book in Tracey Alvarez's Far North series, featuring Gracie, the younger sister of Book 2's Glen and Bounty Bay's sexy doctor Owen. It is outstanding. It may be my favorite yet in this series.
Gracie has been a wandering soul for the past few years engaging in one adventure after another. Owen is a reliable, work-alcoholic doctor recently handed the responsibility of his three orphaned nieces and nephew. Returning to spend time with her brother and Savannah before their wedding, an accidental set of events lands Gracie as the children's nanny living at Owen's house. At first glance, it seems these two have nothing in common other than a physical attraction. However, both are runners. Owen has been running from any type of attachment. Attachment to him means pain when you lose the person you love. Gracie has turned running into a lifestyle based on her lifelong insecurities. She physically jumps around the planet to avoid; conflicts, major decisions, the chance of disappointment.
Once again Tracey has developed amazing characters. Owen and Gracie are complex, real people. The children in this book are some of my favorites ever. Charlie is adorable, William is touching with his Harry Potter obsession, and Morgan is almost heartbreaking in the in-between age of childhood and young lady. The instant family created with the children, Owen, and Gracie made for a wonderful story. Every type of possible love was on full display at some point. Such a well-written, multi-layered story. I have to mention the House Rules! Loved, loved, loved them! And I will never see a possum again without giggling.
Ultimately this is a book about taking a chance; standing firm, and fighting for something. Is the risk of potential pain worth the possibility of getting everything you ever wanted even if you never realized it was what you wanted? Can Gracie and Owen be brave and get their happily ever after or will they run again? Tracey's books are like a big, warm hug. They just make you feel happy. She's such a good writer. I will never get enough of her wonderful books and their lovely characters. I can't wait for the next.

Know Your Heart (Bounty Bay... Know Your Heart (Bounty Bay #2)

                      by Tracey Alvarez    ****STAR REVIEW
What I love about Tracey Alverez is her characters. They are all so real. They could be me, you, your neighbor or friend. They have success and setbacks, strengths and insecurities. They don't face ridiculous, overblown, insurmountable issues. They face the same day to day trials we do. They are relatable.
Savannah introduced to the reader as Nate's younger cousin in Hide Your Heart, is featured in this book. As a movie star, Savannah knows she's only as good as her last role. She's no longer a fresh-faced teen and is 20 lbs over industry standards. Having been replaced with a younger actress in her last movie she flees to Bounty Bay to her hideaway home to lick her wounds and prepare for her next audition. However, when she gets there, her house is occupied for the next 6 weeks by her cousin's mate Glen. Glen is there to write a novel, his lifelong dream. He also wants nothing to do with Savannah since she unknowingly broke his heart years ago.
Both of these characters have great qualities, easily seen by others, yet both have insecurities known only to themselves. Sav feels like her best days in Hollywood are behind her, she seeks other's approval since she isn't secure with who she is. Glen feels like the invisible man; he's been denying his passion, living the life expected of him by his father. Both have been hurt in love and are closed to opening up again.
The competition to run the other off is so entertaining. The lengths they go to are hilarious. Their attraction to one another is inevitable and when they finally give into it, it's wonderful. But it doesn't last. Trust and self-doubt are aided by a well-intentioned relative, and Sav breaks 2 hearts. Having the dual POV makes this story even better. Knowing how each character feels makes you root for their happiness all the more. Once again Tracey delivers a feel-good, emotional story.

Hide Your Heart (Bounty Bay... Hide Your Heart (Bounty Bay #1)

                     by Tracey Alvarez   *****STAR REVIEW
Tracey Alvarez's Due South series is one of my all-time favorites. I have to remind myself while reading them that they are fiction and that I can't actually move to the island to be a part of their stories. For that reason alone I have put off reading the Far North books. I knew that the characters could not possibly be as perfectly wonderful as my Due South friends. But finally, I couldn't resist the call any longer. I knew that no matter what Tracey's writing would be excellent and I would enjoy the book. I have fallen in love again.
Hide Your Heart is about two people hiding from the world, from life; only one doesn't realize it. Lauren Taylor has returned home with her small son Drew escaping the world of the rich and famous and abusive. She is magnificent, yet only sees her mistakes. She is trying to rebuild her life, but she is still scarred physically and emotionally. Nate Fraser is a photojournalist tired of the constant move but convinced it's the only life for him. "Photographers capture nouns; photojournalists shoot verbs." (Great line) This is how he sees himself and what he wants from life.
These two are attracted to one another (the sex is hot) but their lives are on different paths. I like how the obstacle in this book is known from the beginning. It's so enjoyable to see Lauren and Nate's relationship grow into a friendship, then into love and watch Drew wiggle his way into Nate's heart. It makes it more painful knowing it won't last. There is no misunderstanding, no fight, no lack of communication; just different dreams. There is no right, no wrong. But dreams can change.
This is a good, simple story that depends on its characters. And no one does characters any better than Tracey. These are well developed, likable, honest, flawed characters. Lauren, Drew, and Nate each pull you into their lives. You can't help but become invested in them, and hope for them to find happiness with each other.

Bending The Rules Bending The Rules

              by     *****REVIEW
Noah Daniels or as he's regularly called, Office Sexy-Britches is the only cop on Stewart Island. The one-time special unit badass now spends his on-duty time dealing with someone who has had one too many at the pub or responding to a minor disagreement among the island's four hundred or so residents. He's put the big city and its danger behind and locked up his emotions tight over the reasons he moved away. Until the moment he finds Tilly Montgomery in a towel outside of the B&B two doors down. Tilly lives in Aukland and works as a screenwriter for the popular soap K-Road. She's only in town to settle her Aunt Mary's estate and get the B&B ready for sale. These two immediately hit it off and the chemistry is definitely there but they both have thick walls in place around their hearts and rules they live by to keep them emotionally safe. Will they be able to take a chance or is this a short-term fling? Is this a love story or a romance?

Home For Christmas (Stewart... Home For Christmas (Stewart Island #9)

                     by Tracey Alvarez    *****REVIEW
Decorated trees and sexy elves, Betsy Taylor's fruitcakes and Kezia's struffoli napoletani (skip Piper's cookies), jelly beans that grow into candy canes, Santa sacks and stockings, babies and puppies, onesies that come in all sizes, secret admirers, and love, love, love. Family and friends, whānau. Christmas in Oban! Christmas at Due South!! It's no secret how much I love Tracey Alvarez's small Stewart island and it's inhabitants. I consider them friends and look forward to each new chapter in their lives. Spending Christmas with them is a much-appreciated gift.
Plans go awry days before Christmas due to the unpredictable Oban weather when the island is cut off from the mainland. This isn't the only unfortunate surprise over the Holiday, but it all turns out exactly how it should by Christmas day. Each and every one of my favorite couples gets their own Holiday storyline; Piper and West, Del and Shaye, Bree and Harley, Kezia and Ben, Holly and Ford, Mac and Joe, and Carly and Kip. Betsy Taylor, the Island's resident matchmaker even gets a surprise of her own. The young ones on the Island each get in on the action as well. It's a true family affair.
This book is a pure delight! It gave me the warm fuzzies. It's the perfect way to get into the Holiday spirit and remember what matters about the Holiday; being with those we love. Merry Christmas from Stewart Island and from me!

Kissing The Bride (Due Sout... Kissing The Bride (Stewart Island #7.5)

Drawing Me In (Stewart Isla... Drawing Me In (Stewart Island #7)

                      by Tracey Alvarez    *****STAR REVIEW
I love Tracey Alvarez. Each time I pick up one of The Due South series I feel like I'm going home. I live across the world, yet I feel as if I am part of the village of Oban. Yet I am envious of these fictional friends of mine. I want to be at the emergency ladies breakfasts, I want to be at trivia night at Due South, I want my own gorgeous island man; I will even take the long-lost family member arriving into my life. When you read one of the Due South books you know what you are getting; a love story that will face some rough patches, but will end in a happily ever after. That's only half though; the pleasure is in the path to get there. Tracey creates such true characters with real depth facing real-life situations. There is never any need for ridiculous, extravagant plots, she gives us the rawness, the beauty, pain, and fears of lives worth living.
This is the story of Bree and Harley, of family, friendships, and love. Bree has never been one of my favorites; she didn't have Piper's spunk, Kezia's loyalty or Carly's spark. Sure she's beautiful, but she's reserved, a little aloof. Little did I know. Her character's evolution was amazing. She's hidden so much over the years; she's full of doubts, insecurities, regrets, and a broken heart. She wears a mask of perfection for the world to see, but underneath there's fragility mixed with strength, a desire for love, acceptance, and belonging. Turns out I identify with Bree more than any character so far and that made this one of my favorite installments in the series. You can't help but love Harley; outgoing, charming, talented, handsome. But will he/ can he man up enough to be with/to stay with Bree? What about the complications?
This is a wonderful love story jeopardized by past and present secrets, but for me, there was so much more. It's a story of family and all of the forms it comes in. This is a story of deep friendship; friendships that equal or surpass family. Friendships that moved me. The women have a tight bond that grows with each book. That can be expected among good women, but it's the men that reached me in this book. The twin ESP is always touching, but the friendship extends deeply through this entire group of men. Tracey has captured the bond real men can share to perfection. The treehouse scene....
This book captures love in every pure form. It's not often I read a book that lingers. This book makes me feel good thinking back on it, makes me want more for my own relationships. The story of Bree and Harley is among my favorites of Oban. Definitely, a must read.

Playing For Fun (Stewart Is... Playing For Fun (Stewart Island #6)

                      by Tracey Alvarez   *****STAR REVIEW
Sometimes the bravest thing you could ever do is to be honest, to be open. Sometimes it's too hard. It's much easier to go about as an easy-going, laid-back friend to all. Everyone thinks that they know you, but they only know what you want them to see; never the ugly truth. Tracey Alvarez has once again captured human nature to perfection in this return to Due South Book 6.
Holly Parker is the local hairdresser, part of the island lady's group, best friend to Shaye. She's lovely, sweet, and has been secretly crushing on the younger Komeke twin for years. But she's never learned to stand up for herself, put herself first, and ask for what she wants. Ford Komeke has lived partly in the shadows; in the shadow of his famous twin, in the shadow of his past. He's been scarred by his early life with his birth mother but refuses to open up and face the damage. As these two come together through a series of hilarious events orchestrated by the older women on the island, the vulnerability that is on display borders on painful. I always expect my happily ever after from Tracey's books. It's part of their charm, but for the first time ever I doubted. Sexual chemistry is easy for these two, the feels are not. Sharing your true self with another and facing it yourself is often too hard to overcome for some. Tracey proved that she is the reigning queen of capturing human nature with the way this book played out.
I know I sound repetitive when talking about Tracey Alvarez, her talent, and the Due South series, but these books are exceptional glimpses into the lives of wonderful characters in a beautiful little island village. Each book is so enjoyable and makes me look forward to the next. Totally worth a read!

My Forever Valentine (Stewa... My Forever Valentine (Stewart Island #5)

                      by Tracey Alvarez    *****STAR REVIEW
These are four very short stories that are heartwarming; perfect for anyone who believes in happily ever after. These are the Valentine's Day stories of Shaye and Del, Piper and West, Carly and Kip, and Kezia and Ben. I love all four of these couples and it was so wonderful to get this little visit with them. In true Due South style, no one's Valentine's goes as expected, but all end up perfect. You will find yourself smiling through every page.

Christmas with You (Stewart... Christmas with You (Stewart Island #4)

                      by Tracey Alvarez *****STAR REVIEW
I loved this book. Carly is one of the sweetest characters to arrive on the island. Younger stepsister to Del and West, after her father's death she follows her stepmother and brother to the island. She hopes to find another brother in West and settle into a real family again. She's a refreshing, straightforward character. She finds a new life and love along with the family she so wants. Kip, the island bartender, just wants his own life, not the path set out for him by his parents. He isn't looking for love, but it literally falls into his lap (or on him). And he discovers that honesty is rewarded with acceptance by those who truly love you.
Of all of the Due South books, this one is the sweetest. It's a perfect Christmas tale. A story of two people both avoiding the Holidays in their own way and for their own reason. Two people who have undeniable chemistry and with a little matchmaking help from the family and some Holiday spirit it becomes a Christmas and a love to remember. Carly worms her way into the hearts of the village, the Westlake's, the Sullivan's, and especially Kip's. Such a light, enjoyable read; it just makes you happy.

Ready to Burn (Stewart Isla... Ready to Burn (Stewart Island #3)

                      by Tracey Alvarez   *****STAR REVIEW
Tracey Alvarez is amazing. I think she has the best grasp on humanity of any current writer. Her characters are as real as your next-door neighbor; as likable, as fragile, as flawed. This is the third installment of the small island village Oban in New Zealand. This story focuses on the youngest of the Harland children, Shaye and the youngest Westlake Del. The backdrop for their story is a kitchen since both are chefs.
Shaye is maybe the best representative of Tracey's works because she embodies family. She is the best daughter and sister one could ask for. She's sweet, caring, smart, feisty. Del is a broken man pretending otherwise. He has a chip on his shoulder carried from the time he was sent to LA to live with his mom. The lifestyle in California got the better of him, but he hasn't truly acknowledged and dealt with it yet. After the fallout of poor decisions destroyed his career in Cali, he headed home to cover the restaurant at Due South for his dad. Of course, this puts him at odds with Shaye.
Turns out that they're fabulous together; they have fun together, have undeniable sexual chemistry, and are unstoppable working together in the kitchen. But it's not always so easy trying to be together which has to be doubly difficult for Shaye who has always believed true love should be simple and easy. Dreams need to be reevaluated, demons put to rest if they have any chance making it. These two have a chance at everything, but if they can't be honest and trust, they could each end up with a successful career and little else. The Harland's and Westlake's have proven how tough they are independently before, but together they are even better. Once again Tracey Alvarez tells a lovely story with honest characters. Once again there's no one better at capturing the simple truths of life. Once again I loved one of her books and can's wait to read the next.

Melting into You (Stewart I... Melting into You (Stewart Island #2)

                 BY Tracey Alvarez   *****STAR REVIEW

What a beautiful book.  The measure of a man to a woman isn't how good looking he is or how much money he makes, but how he feels about her, how he makes her feel.  Does he make her feel loved, precious, safe?  The beauty of this book was to watch a man who knew how to "get the job done" but was emotionally stunted evolve into a loving man.
Ben had to grow up too fast and put aside his own dreams when his father died.  He took care of his mom and sister the best he could, never realizing that while actions can speak louder than words; words are important as well.  It took an unexpected little girl entering his life to open up the world for him.  Joining him as he learned to live and love was an unexpected pleasure. Obligation turned into the most important honor allowed and led to the perfect match.
Kez is a young widow who has already faced a parent's worst nightmare of a sick child by herself.  She has rebuilt their lives in Oban and is surrounded by close girlfriends. She is happy with her life and prepared to remain alone with her daughter providing all of the love she thinks she needs.
Ben and Kez, Jade and Zoe. It's not every book that can focus on 2 single parents and 2 little girls and be as entertaining as this one.  There's humor and heartbreak, misunderstandings and passion. Tracey Alvarez takes 4 people/ 2 pairs and fits them together to take make a family that's so much more than just the pieces. Tracey takes the everyday and makes it extraordinary.
Every parent can relate to this story. Every woman wants a man to prove himself like Ben does, every mother wants a dad that can be trusted with her baby's heart. When you find a man that can do both, you know that you have found forever. Ben and Kez can have forever if they can be brave enough. Wonderful read!

In Too Deep (Stewart Island... In Too Deep (Stewart Island #1)

                     by Tracey Alvarez   ****STAR REVIEW
Truly enjoyed this book. I wasn't sure if I would like it in the beginning because I am generally into female characters that are a bit softer than Piper. I decided to give it a read because it was recommended by one of my favorite authors. Very glad that I did. I enjoyed Piper and West and their drama. Their chemistry was undeniable. The sex scenes were hot. Tracey sets a very believable story. I feel like I have to know what the small community looks like and am familiar with all of its inhabitants. The story was honest, full of real characters placed in a life that you can relate to. Their fears, wants, frustration, anger, and joy all made for a very entertaining story. Will definitely read more in the future.

Harley's Fall (The King Bro... Harley's Fall (The King Brothers series Book              4)  by G. Bailey   *****REVIEW

Harley. King. This is the King Brother's book I have been waiting for. I mean obviously all of the brothers are gorgeous, they are all strong and loving, but Harley is special. He's dedicated his life to his family. He's done his best to protect his brothers, raise them to be good men, give them a good life. He's always put himself last. His family loves and respects him realizing how much he has given up for them; knowing that they are safe and happy is all Harley has ever asked for. He's always known that happiness, love, children are not meant for him until a siren appears at his front door. Tilly, Izzy's best friend has a secret, she's running, she's scared. When she shows up looking for Izzy she wasn't expecting to find herself a giant. "All darkness can be kept away, you just need to find your light."
This is easily my favorite book in the series. I do not have a single complaint. I love how the relationship progressed. Perfect first date, perfect grand gesture date. Harley gets what he never dared dream of, Tilly gets her unspoken prayers answered. Brutality left behind, love going forward! We get time with the entire King family and we get new additions. There's danger, painful history, second chances, amusements, huge revelations, even a disastrous yet touching proposal. Storylines are wrapped up as new ones emerge. And that ending! Argh! It left me with such a combination of emotions. I'm going to need Luke's story sooner rather than later, please!

Elliot's Secret (The King B... Elliot's Secret (The King Brother's #3)

                     by G. Bailey    ****REVIEW
Elliot and Allie have been playing this game since they were children. He pretends he doesn't want her, she pretends she hates him. Everyone can see the truth. There has only ever been, Elliot and Allie. Family secrets, wrong assumptions, fatherly threats have kept them apart. But they can't fight it any longer. Their desires are too strong, they can no longer deny their feelings for one another. Sebastian will get his month of cakes. Elliot will get his true love. But is it really that simple? Can they actually be together or will history catch up to them? The threats were not just empty promises. Lives are on the line, the danger is real, and not everyone will walk away unscathed.

This is the third book in the King Brother's series. It is not my favorite. Don't get me wrong, It is entertaining. I love the King Family. I love that we get plenty of time with Izzy and Blake, Sebastian and Maisy, Harley, and Luke. I adore little Jake. I really like the introduction of Emilia and the return of Tilly to Izzy's world. I think this book fell short of my expectations for two reasons. There had been too much build-up for these two in the first two books. Their relationship would have had to be epic to live up to the foreplay. It was not. It was too predictable. I could have gotten past this, if not for their ugly history. Allie may have been confrontational each time she was around Elliot, but his behavior crossed a line. He was deliberately cruel. He had his reasons, but the things he said to her were way to hurtful to get over as quickly as Allie did. There would be too much pain and doubt to forgive immediately. No female is that understanding nor should they be. And now to sound like a walking contradiction I loved Elliot in this book. Getting to know him better was the best part of the book. I am not a huge Allie fan still and I am not crazy about their relationship but I do love the brooding biker boy!

Even with my personal issues about Allie and Elliot there is no denying that this is an entertaining read full of suspense, humor, sexiness, and family. I'm not sure what I think about how it all played out but it did allow for the bad guy to remain relevant and the danger to continue. I look forward to Harley's book. He's most deserving of a happily ever after!

Sebastian's Chance (The Kin... Sebastian's Chance (The King Brother's #2)

                  by G. Bailey     ****REVIEW
Sebastian's Chance is book 2 of the King Brother's series. We continue the story first started when we met their half-sister Izzy in book 1. This is obviously Sebastian's story. At the end of book 1, we ran into Sebastian's missing ex-girlfriend Maisy. A very pregnant Maisy. Maisy is the only girl Sebastian has ever loved. He knows how much he hurt her; he realizes how much he's messed up since she left. But now she's back carrying his baby. There is no way he's losing her again. He will do anything to fix things with her. He wants his family. Nothing, no-one will stand in his way.
I really enjoyed Seb and Maisy's book. Told in a dual-POV, we know exactly how each character feels along the way to their reunion. Sebastian handled everything wrong after losing Maisy, but once he decides to man-up he is wonderful. Maisy is sweeter and stronger than I could manage in the same situation. She's pretty great. They each have damage from childhood and once they share every secret their relationship grows stronger. The flashbacks of a shared childhood, their present-day struggles, the potential of a truly wonderful future make this a worthy love story.
The supporting cast is full of the King family. I have a different favorite brother in each scene. This includes Blake as an honorary King. Love these boys! Izzy continues her awesomeness and Allie is a great friend. Allie's father continues to be horrid and his partner-in-crime this book is a nightmare. There's nothing scarier than an unhinged female!
This is an entertaining read with plenty of fun and drama. This is a revised edition. The editing issues that were an earlier complaint have been resolved. I can't get enough of this family and am eager to read Elliot's and then Harley's stories. I need a HEA for all of these men!

Izzy's Beginning (The King ... Izzy's Beginning (The King Brother's #1)

                    by G. Bailey   ****REVIEW
Izzy's mom died a few years back leaving her in the foster system. Life has not been great since then, but it could be worse and she's getting by. This all changes with one call to the school office. Turns out she has a family! Her oldest brother has been searching for her. He now has custody and takes her home to live with him and her other three brothers. Imagine, on Monday you are all alone in the world; on Tuesday instant family with four very large, very protective brothers. This is the family that Izzy has been missing. Now she has family, money, and a possible love interest, her brothers' best friend Blake. However, this family has secrets, dangerous secrets and Izzy fears that not only does she not have her brother's trust, but that they will make her leave if she upsets them too much.
Izzy is a great girl in many ways. She's smart, artistic, loving, and beautiful. I do think that she is too accepting of Blake in the beginning, but we will get to that. I liked her sense of insecurity since it seemed natural after her mother's death and foster care. She's a bit immature at times in the beginning, (if you don't like beer, say no thanks, don't overreact with your brothers over nothing, but forgive Blake for real issues) but her reactions get better as the book progresses. Her brothers are yummy. Harley, the oldest is the family leader, Sebastian is nursing a broken heart with meaningless sex, his twin Elliot is quiet, has a distant girlfriend, but seems to want someone else. And the Baby Luke is a tattooed, fun loving guy. All of the brothers are damaged goods thanks to their awful father. Their best friend Blake is a gorgeous man-whore. He changed his ways once he meets Izzy, his beauty, but she still has to deal with his past and crazy girls. Not a fan of this behavior. I wish that Izzy had made Blake work harder to win her over. She gave him her trust and her affection long before he deserved it. Insta-love cheapened their relationship and it took me longer to get invested. By the end, I did love them together.
I enjoyed the characters tremendously and liked the story. It was full of fun, action, passion, and drama. The writing was inconsistent; at times what I expect from G Bailey, at times less. I liked getting some of Blake's POV, along with Izzy's and would have loved even more. Overall, this was a fun, entertaining story that hooked me from the beginning. I look forward to reading about Sebastian and Maisy.

Sweet Retribution (Rydeville Elite #3)

by
The thing about the Elite is that they always underestimate their enemies, especially when they are women. Abby's father thinks he's the one in charge. He believes he has broken his daughter beyond repair and is about to accomplish his life's ambition. He is about to find out that he is wrong. It's true that he hurt Abby, badly, but she's not broken. She has her twin, she has her friends, and she has Kai. She will do whatever it takes to make sure that she keeps them and that they live the life they want. No more fear, no more pain, no more Elite.
Abby's day has come. Yes, she's not the only one invested in the outcome of this battle but for me, just like Kai is the only man for her, this was always Abby's fight to win. She held the fate of so many: the wives, daughters, and sisters of the elite; the underaged sex slaves, the blackmailed, the murdered. She stood for every victim. But she didn't stand alone. Abby had the love and loyalty of a great team of men around her and it made all the difference. Brains and bravery. I found myself holding my breath, literally, as I read, fearful of turning the page.

This has been my favorite series of the year. Abby and Kai stole my heart. Siobhan outdid herself. Again. It was a beautiful, painful journey. It was ugly, relentless, emotional, angsty, and heartbreaking. It was also sexy, suspenseful, funny, and satisfying. The story gripped me from page one and held me captive until the end. I loved the characters, even the ones I hated, I loved hating. This story belonged to Abby and Kai but each one in their group is worthy of their own individual book. I look forward to so much more.

Twisted Betrayal (Rydeville Elite #2)

by
Abby is in trouble. She's been kidnapped, drugged, held prisoner. She's lost everything. So when an offer of help comes, she accepts it even though she no longer knows who she can trust. It doesn't even matter. All that matters is revenge. Except that each time she believes she has a chance, a tiny bit of control, she is put in her place. She is shown just how perverse the world she lives in is; just how evil her father truly is. He nearly destroyed her. He should have because as long as she's breathing, she will not give up. And this time she's not alone.

I have never anticipated and dreaded a book as much as I did this one. Siobhan took me to places I never expected to go. I was exhilarated, frustrated, infuriated, and devastated. Eating didn't matter. Sleeping wasn't important. All that mattered were the words on the page. I thought long ago that Siobhan had lost the ability to shock me. I was so wrong. The darkness in this book is shocking, horrifying, addictive. It is magnificently obscene and I was like Alice falling down the rabbit hole stumbling my way through this foreign world. Unlike Alice, I didn't fall in, I dove in headfirst. I became a willing witness and ally to Abby. I suffered alongside her and willed her strength when it seemed more than she could handle.

It's not all sheer torment. There are stolen moments of pure joy. There are heartfelt, poignant moments. Still, the tension never lets up. You know the precious moments are fleeting. You will read with a knot in your stomach, waiting, always waiting. The suspense is palpable and lasts until the blessed/cursed cliffhanger. You know it's coming. You even anticipated parts of it. But you never guessed everything. It may leave you gasping, screaming, even cursing. You may frantically check to see if another page will magically appear. You will not be happy; you will need more. This book is so good it will nearly overwhelm you. It will consume your thoughts and your emotions. If you're like me you will come away thinking that Abby and Cam must find a way to be together. The elite must be destroyed. There must be revenge, justice, and the HEA. How many days until Sweet Retribution?

Cruel Intentions (Rydeville Elite #

by

They were born to rule. The Elite have ruled for generations. The Elite heirs Trent, Charlie, and Drew, rule the hallways of Rydeville High. Abigail is an Elite, Drew's twin, however, as a female, she is nothing more than a pawn on her father's chess board. She's been controlled her entire life; told how to dress, who she can be friendly with, and who she will be married to after graduation. She plays her role to perfection knowing that her life depends on it while secretly planning her escape. Then Cam, Sawyer, and Jackson, the New Elite show up challenging Elite rule. Battle lines are drawn. Sides are taken. Abigail is in trouble. Now both sides own her; the Elite by her very birth; the New Elite because of her one lost night of rebellion. She lost her virginity to a beautiful stranger. That stranger is Cam and if her secret gets out, her life is forfeit. Abigail's one precious memory is now tarnished. The boy who made her feel so special for one night hates her. Torture isn't enough for Cam; he wants to completely destroy Abigail and her world. This is the ultimate power struggle. The Elite aren't willing to hand over their control and Abigail isn't going down to either side without a fight.

Bully romances are all the rage at the moment. I have not been a fan of the genre. I am now. I have read every book Siobhan has written. This is my new favorite. Siobhan has made her mark writing angst, she can put you through the emotional wringer; now she has perfected bully romance. I was seduced by this book. There's no better way to describe it. I devoured each page. I fell in love with Abigail. I worried for her, suffered with her, cheered her few victories. Each time she was abused or debased, each strike she took verbally and emotionally I stood with her. Her father, Trent, and Cam tortured her, Drew and the others stood by and allowed it, but Abigail was never humbled. She is worth more than every man in this book. I will not speak of the men. I can't without my hatred shining through and spoilers coming out. They may look pretty but they are rotten. Each and every one of them with the exception of the wonderful Xavier and the loyal Chad unforgivably failed Abigail. Don't get me wrong there is an intensity to Cam and the sexual chemistry between Cam and Abigail is undeniably scorching but his moments of pure sweetness do NOT impress me enough to forget the damage he has done to her. Siobhan swears she will change my mind about Cam, make me love him; I know better than to doubt her but I don't see how. As for the rest of you girls, I know you will LOVE him.

Dakota's life isn't her own. She has obligations, responsibilities. She can't think about herself. But when these two cross paths, obligations are forgotten, danger is ignored. They can't help falling for each other. It's inevitable. It could also be deadly.

Inseparable Inseparable

                    by Siobhan Davis   *****REVIEW
Inseparable is one of those books that hurt to read, that you can't put down, that won't leave your mind for days after you finish. It's the story of three childhood friends, of enduring love and the pain only those you love the most can cause. It's a story of damaged souls and their journey back.

Angelina, Devin, and Ayden were neighbors who became best friends and made a promise to each other, a blood oath to stay together. But by the end of high school, everything had changed. Ayden was the golden boy, good grades, star quarterback. Devin was a drunken, womanizer. The boys were no longer close, tensions ran high. Angelina was the glue holding their strained friendship together, barely. She was secretly in love with Devin, but after he broke her one too many times she decided that her other best friend might be the better choice for her heart. The threesome broke and became a duo. The loss of the trio lingered. It worked for a while between Angelina and Ayden, but he made choices, kept secrets that ended up hurting her too. Still together, but apart, Angelina was on her own for the first time. She healed a bit and existed until Devin came back into her life giving her what she had always wanted. But there was a steep price to pay. Angelina paid with her soul. She went down a self-destructive path that took her away from everything she had ever known, ever loved. A childhood friendship that should have been their greatest strength turned against the trio. Secrets, lies, lack of trust broke them apart. Destroyed them. Can love save? Is there anything left to save?

I had a love/hate relationship with this book. I loved the trio, I hated the trio. These characters were so fully developed, so complex they became real to me. I cared for them. This was such an emotional journey, packed with so much pain and betrayal that I was gutted at times. I felt anger, disgust; I worried, I struggled, I cried. I was enthralled. It hit a nerve with me, triggered some of my own pain. It's doubtful that you will have the same degree of this book's characters' experiences, but I promise that you will be able to relate to parts of them. These are human experiences that we all must face when we have a lifetime with others. We are all damaged, all flawed to some degree. We all make poor decisions. Hopefully, we all come through stronger in the end. We all want the HEA. This book shows a new depth to Siobhan's writing. I was wrung out by the end, but so satisfied. It's a rewarding read.

Echoes in the Storm Echoes in the Storm

             by Max Henry   ****REVIEWS
Echoes in the Storm is a bundle of tension! I don't think I took a deep breath the entire time I was reading. Duke and Cammie's story is so poignant, full of so much pain and heartbreak. Ultimately, it's a story of survival, of second and last chances, of love. It's the light at the end of a long, dark path. I loved it.
Duke is a broken veteran. His body and soul are scarred from his time at war. He's full of anger and guilt. Cammie is the veteran of a much different battle. She's suffered the worst loss a mother can endure and lost her husband along the way. She's consumed by guilt, self-hate, and remorse. Both suffer from PTSD. While it seems that these two could only bring more pain into the life of the other, the truth is just the opposite. By sharing their pain, they each have a chance to begin to heal and move forward. They can offer balance, forgiveness, a future.
This book is beautifully written. I work with survivors with PTSD. Max Henry captured their struggle on the page. Duke's need to push everyone away, Cammie's total self-giving; both forms of avoidance, both ways to punish oneself. Their inner turmoil, their common need for redemption. So much pain! Neither can undo the past, there is no way to fix what has happened. Maybe though they can begin to understand that they aren't to blame.
If you believe in fate, in second chances, in love, this is absolutely the book for you!

Hard Rock Muse (Cherry Lips... Hard Rock Muse (Cherry Lips #3)

               by    ****REVIEW

Ever Darling. Everly Davis. Ev, Ever, Everly. She's been them all. Now she has to take control and decide who she is and what she wants out of her life. Once she was the lead singer for a band with her lover and best friends but they left her. Now they are with Cherry Lips. Solo, she was left vulnerable and at risk to an abusive producer. When she left him, he ruined her music career. Now she's trying for a fresh start under a new name as a songwriter. Unfortunately, the job turns out to be for Cherry Lips with the very man who broke her heart. Is this a second chance or is she asking for more pain? One man broke her heart, another her spirit. It's time for Ever to take control once again.

Hard Rock Muse triggered me. I'm not a pink-haired rock goddess. I'm a natural ginger who only rocks in the car. But I am Ever. Keith could have been my ex-husband. This is how I know how accurate, how well-written these characters are. I know first-hand how you can go from a confident, intelligent, young woman to a shattered soul scared to offer an opinion on pizza toppings. I know how you can be cut off from all friends, family, all support and the abuser becomes your total focus. But you don't even realize that he is an abuser. It's so gradual, so subtle. I know how hard it is to break away, to trust yourself again. I don't know how it is to trust others again or to love again, so Ev is ahead of me there. I maybe shouldn't review this book because I am too close to Ev. But I will. It's clear how I feel about Ever. I am protective of her. She is as real to me as a character can be. Flawed, a little broken, healing. Keith won't be mentioned. He serves a purpose but I can't say any more. I have mixed feelings about Julian and Seth. They walked away. Lovers, best friends DO NOT DO THIS. I don't accept the way it played out. They abandoned Ever. . Yes, Julian came back and it was too late (maybe) but what about Seth? Nope, there was never enough of an apology. I could never trust these two again. So my story would end there. But I am not Ever and this is not my story. Still, Julian with his inability to speak continued to cause emotional damage. Again, I don't accept the explanations. Ever was abandoned, abused, and now she has to make allowances for his childhood and his emotional repression. Actions can be enough without words unless your actions were to walk away and break a person's heart. Now you have to man up and talk. She would never be able to trust him without words and actions. Over and over. Trust may be impossible with everything she's been through even then. The fact that each time they hit a rough patch, Ever had to be the one to go back to him did not sit well with me. He had a grand gesture at the end and I swooned along with everyone else but it was difficult getting there.

So, yes, I am torn. I can recommend this 100% for others. I can't imagine that they would feel as strongly about Julian as I do. Seth and Abby, huh? Is that where we are going next? It should be able to handle since he betrayed her sister, not her and Ever has forgiven him. The cute little bookworm and the drummer. I'll read it!
