A Portrait of Pain (Seraph Black #4)
by Jane Washington *****STAR REVIEW
Jane Washington is the Queen of RH. The Seraph Black series is brilliant. A Portrait of Pain, the final book of the series, is the ultimate perfection. Honestly, I expected nothing short of excellence having read all of Jane's books, but she exceeded my expectations. I can't recommend this series enough!
This book picks up not long after where Lead Heart leaves off. Seraph's life is still in turmoil. Danny is still on loose and determined to punish Seraph in the most extreme ways possible. There will most likely be Zev and human casualties as Danny has no regard for life; his only focus being his game of revenge and ending Seraph. Her relationships are still unsettled, but the passion is growing. Her pairs, Miro and Silas, Cabe and Noah are all in now, but none of them seem to know how to make a fivesome work. (Oh, to have that problem). Silas has always been my favorite and he's better than ever in this book. He's toned down his psychopathic tendencies, upped his sexiness. Miro also ups his sexiness in this final book. He skyrocketed in my affections from 4th to 2nd. Something about those twins! Cabe and Noah were their delicious, playful selves again. I love the pet names they have for Seraph. Their constant loving on Seraph is the perfect balance to the volatility of the twins. And Seraph herself...she's come such a long way. Her kindness, bravery, her empathy. She's a remarkable character.
Jane has created such an elaborate world with this series. The details lead you to believe that there are Zevs mixed in with human society right now. In this book, we get an even more in-depth history of the Zevs. Amazing detail. Her characters are so complex; not only the main characters but everyone who plays a key role. Jayden and Danny (both can elicit frustration and sympathy), Tariq, Jack and the Soph's. And who doesn't love her besties, Poison (cupcake) and Clarin (mouse).
The final story is so clever. The constant danger and suspense. It's impossible to figure out Danny's game because his mind is just too warped. Seraph may not want to play his game, but she's the only hope to stop him. First, she will have to stay alive and hope that the body count around her doesn't grow too high. He's outtricked her at every turn so far. My favorite parts of the book revolve around the private moments with Seraph and one or more of her pairs. The stolen moments of passion or light-heartedness, mixed in with the intensity of the rest of the story make for ideal reading. The book ends with an Epilogue that is one of the most satisfying chapters I have ever read. The only negative comment that I can make is that now it's over. No more Seraph and her pairs, except in my mind. No fears though, Silas will be on my mind for a long time to come!

Lead Heart (Seraph Black #3)
by Jane Washington *****STAR REVIEW
Okay, everyone who has spoken to me over the past 2 weeks knows about my latest obsession; Seraph Black and her Pairs, Silas and Miro, Noah and Cabe. I fell in love with the first two books and couldn't be more excited to read the third. However, when it came time to start the book, I got scared. I was so afraid that I had created unrealistic expectations and that there would be no way this book could be as good as the first two. No fears. Jane Washington is brilliant. This series manages to one up itself with each book. Lead Heart is excellent. This is easily one of my favorite series ever.
Seph's character continues to evolve. She's getting stronger. Her childhood was awful, worse than we imagined, but she survived. Her (re)introduction into the world of the Zev, it's leaders, and her peers has been brutal, but she's surviving. It's easy to believe that if she manages to live, one day she will thrive. Her strength comes from her heart. She will do anything to protect those she loves. She is a worthy female lead and a solid anchor for the book. Her Pairs do not shine in the majority of this book, though it's mostly not their fault. It's still difficult to read and accept. Silas is darker than ever; cruel, dangerous, deadly. Miro is confused and feels guilty. Noah and Cabe are suspicious, unfeeling, and meanwhile under the influence of the hypnotist. When they do show their best selves, it's that much sweeter. Great payoff. Poison and Clarin are unwavering with their friendship and support. The girlfriend scenes with Seph and Poison are fantastic. Jane is a strong dialog writer. Jayden plays a larger role and is somewhat fascinating. Plus, we have several new characters of the Klovoda who all add to the storyline.
The story is again fast paced and intricate; intelligent and entertaining. Seph still has to face the Messenger and Weston, both intelligent, deadly opponents and still try to work on her bonds. Jane adds so many layers to the story. Her descriptions, whether of the scenery or of a situation are so vivid, you as the reader are transported along with the characters. She covers so much emotion in this book; pain, happiness, longing, hope, fear, frustration, anger, and some serious passion. So much is revealed; there are answers to some of the biggest questions, and so much happens. Again she packs an unbelievable amount of action into a single book, yet it never feels rushed or too busy. So much will change in the next book. The new characters will play a larger role, but it will all come back again to Seph and her Pairs; I can't wait!!

Watercolour Smile (Seraph Black #2)
by Jane Washington *****STAR REVIEW
I am obsessed. Seraph Black, Noah and Cabe, Silas and Quillan have completely taken over my reading life. I am not sure what to do with myself until the next book is released. Often an author writes the first book of a series and it shows so much potential, but as you read the following books, they never reach the level of the first. This is not the case with Watercolour Smile. Charcoal Tears was a really good book; this one is even better. Seraph is still overwhelmed by the bond, but she's becoming more proactive as she adjusts to being a Zev. However, by fighting the bond it becomes more complicated for all of them to deal with. It's causing each a strain in their own way. Their reactions are all unique to their character and I can't claim to understand them all, but I found myself upset with Seph for causing the boys pain I don't believe is necessary and putting them all in more danger.
This book is full of twists and turns. It's wonderful to never know what might happen on the next page. I enjoyed the growing friendship Seph has with Poison and Clarin. The changes between Seph and Tariq were interesting as well. The Messenger is a worthy enemy/partner. He is a compelling character we are starting to get more information and understanding about. However, the book is all about Seph and her pairs. Her relationship with Quillan is still a mystery to me. I feel like there's more than she's admitting. She frustrates me with Cabe and Noah. Her lack of trust in the feelings, while understandable, bothers me. And then there's Silas. He and his inner beast rule each page that he appears on. I can't get enough and want so much more! I am utterly fascinated with him.
I don't want to go into any of the book's details. It's so very good and so unpredictable that I don't want to spoil it for another reader. Just know it's well written, fast-paced, and personally left me gutted for 3 different reasons. September 30th can't get here fast enough. I just finished this book, and already frantic to know what happens next.

Charcoal Tears (Seraph Black #1)
by Jane Washington *****STAR REVIEW
Charcoal Tears is the first book in the Seraph Black Series. I accidentally came across this book and couldn't be more pleased. Seph is a 17 year old girl taking care of her younger brother, keeping the house afloat and him safe from their abusive, alcoholic father. Seraph is a beautiful, broken girl. She is a talented artist, but alone. She's invisible to most of the world. Other than her brother, her art teacher, a boy at her lunch table and a stranger at the bar she works at she has only herself to rely on. That all changes when the Adair brothers arrive at her school. Soon Cabe and Noah are deeply entrenched in her life. They know her secret and more about her than she knows herself. With their arrival, we find out more about her other acquaintances. For the first time in her life, Seph has people surrounding her that she can count on although there are strings attached. And along with their arrival, danger also enters her life. Threats against her if she doesn't stay away from her new friends. Life has never been simple for Seph, but these new complications could be deadly.
Seph is a good female lead. Cabe, Noah, Silas, and Miro are all fascinating men. I especially like Noah and Silas. Noah with his intensity and Silas with his dark, tortured soul. So compelling. I look forward to more time getting to know each man more. This book is entertaining, intense, full of mystery and makes me anxious to read the next one immediately.

Crowned (The Gaia Chronicles #4)
Finally able to access Gaia’s memories, Terra knows the truth behind the darkness. Before too long, she knows the identity of Tarturus and understands his final plan and her role in stopping him. Time is running out and Terra's guardians are desperate to find a way to help her save Earth and keep her safe. Unfortunately, that may not be possible. Gaia knew when she fell that the ultimate sacrifice was needed; soon Terra will understand as well.
Caged (The Gaia Chronicles #3)
With the darkness traced back to her dorm and her friend, Amalia, it's decided that Terra must be removed from the danger. She's taken to a safe house while the guys try to figure out what to do next. The guys have tried to think of everything Terra might want or need but it's not long before she feels more like a captive than a Goddess. Even worse Terra feels that she is losing herself; that Gaia is taking over and she's not sure that Her Chosen wouldn't actually prefer having the Goddess they served, loved for lifetimes rather than the human girl. Confused and feeling alone Terra decides that it's time to take control. It's time to find a way to all of Gaia's memories before it's too late and the Darkness has won.
Coveted (The Gaia Chronicles #2)
Terra Materson. Gaia. Who exactly is she? Is she one or both? Terra's life has been rocked. She always knew she was different but a fallen goddess trying to save Earth? There's a great darkness approaching but what? Terra can feel the evil. And how can she stop it if she can't control her powers? The witches seem to be the answer but can she trust them or do they only want her power? And then there are her guards, Ross, Cael, Endo, and Sol. There is an undeniable connection but what does it mean? They want to protect her but they keep so many secrets from her. They seem attracted to her but then they keep her at a distance. She needs them, all of them. She needs answers, she needs control, she needs power, and she needs them fast if she has a chance to save her beloved Earth.
Cursed (The Gaia Chronicles #1)
Terra Materson is the girl who feels the world. She feels the history and the pain of the very earth. Different, she is shunned by her classmates as a young girl, even her parents didn't understand her. When they died Terra went to live with her Grandmother on her farm and found the one person who understood her, told her that her abilities were a gift, not a curse, and taught her how to control them. But now her Grandmother has died and Terra is all alone in the world. Although she might be gone, Terra's Grandmother still knew what she needed and enrolled her in college, Terra's dream college, Atchison. Terra immediately feels at home there but also unsettled. There are things going on around her that she doesn't understand. There are boys there who confuse her. She has no real experience with boys but she still doesn't understand why she feels so strongly, feels a bond with four boys on campus. When the truth starts to be revealed it seems so unreal but also feels right. They all have a role to play but what is it exactly? And what are they meant to be to one another?
I like Terra. Isolated and fearful of people, she's definitely more comfortable alone with nature. As her story is revealed this makes perfect sense. Her circumstances led me to feel very protective of her. I have mixed feelings about the guys. Cael the whirlwind, social, easy-going. Ross, the artist, (my personal favorite), spiritual, quiet with the depth of the ocean. Fiery, hot-tempered, passionate Endo. Sol, (my least favorite) the grounded boy who seems to push Terra at every turn. I understand their role. I understand their decisions. However, it still feels like a betrayal. Terra was lied to, manipulated even, she was hurt. There had to be a better way. Now I question the boys and their supposed feelings for Terra. They knew exactly what was going through her head so they had to be aware of what they were doing. And who is Violet to them? I don't trust them at this point. Much will need to change before I can accept Terra with them.
I admit I loved this book. It ended way too soon for me. It was original, entertaining. I have so many questions. Violet, of course, how do the witches fit into everything, can Amalia be trusted, what is up with Jesse, is Henry dangerous? I need more, more, more.

The Last Mystic
Shayliene Amora watched as Diathon and The Circle of the Righteous slaughtered her entire family, the royal family and outlawed majick. She has spent the last 8 months surviving in the harsh Arids planning her revenge. Injured by a wild creature, she is saved by three wielders, Jalor, Pfiza, and Striker who know her true identity and that it's time for her to face her destiny. It's time to face Diathon and retake the throne. It's time for the last mystic to return to her home. It's time for majick to be returned to the land.
The Last Mystic is a quick-reading fantasy adventure RH. Shay is a powerful, capable heroine and the guys are likable. The world-building is detailed and vivid. It's fast-moving and there's not much time for relationship building. I would have preferred more. The storyline is strong and the action is good. I really appreciated the role Shay played in the lives of the other women and girls. It's often forgotten that women have just as much to fight for as the men. And heaven knows women have plenty of fight inside! Often underestimated, unappreciated, Shay set her kingdom to rights before she ever took on the bad guy!

The Curse (Saving The Supernaturals #2)
Jasmine's life has been turned upside-down. So much of what she thought she knew has been a lie and there's so much more she never knew at all. Who she is, what she is, what she is capable of. As she discovers more about herself she understands why her magic is so strong, so different. Her family is not as she thought and neither are her friends or mates. It's difficult to know whom to trust when everyone has been telling lies or withholding key information. However, her family drama could end the world we know, so it's time Jasmine takes control.
The Curse is as full of surprises as the first book. Truly, this is a very entertaining series. This comes as a minor shock to me because I never thought that I could enjoy an RH where I do not like the mates much of the time. Liam and Benji seem more of a team than individuals and they seem more together and against Jazzy much of the time. Neither has shown themselves to be trustworthy, especially Liam. Josh has his moments but he has too many secrets. Jenkins says all the right things but the connection with him isn't strong enough yet. Jazzy should distance herself from these men until they can prove they deserve her. Instead, when they do something unacceptable, she wants them to claim her. Bad behavior gets rewarded with sex. Ugh! Jasmine doesn't just forgive too easily with the guys though. Her dad, another unexpected relative, her best friend. One minute she's overreacting and throwing a deadly magical tantrum, the next she has moved on completely. I would have preferred her to hold everyone accountable in a reasonable way. Instead, she is completely surrounded by people she shouldn't trust. Thank goodness I'm so invested in the rest of the story! The mama drama and the upcoming fight are compelling. The revelations are remarkable and the next generation is intriguing. I do hope to see better versions of Jasmine and her men as we move forward so that I can be assured of an HEA.
The Order (Saving The Supernaturals #1)
Jasmine did not win the lottery when it comes to mothers. Her mother never wanted her and made that clear from her earliest memories. She was forced to keep her and then later paid to be her mother by The Order, the governing body of witches, werewolves, and the now-extinct vampires because The Order sensed magic in her. So 'mom' kept her but didn't bother with any of the duties of motherhood since that would have interfered with the constant partying and her long line of men. As soon as Jasmine was of legal age, she moved out and lived a mostly solitary existence until The Order demanded that she visit the endangered werewolf packs to see if she was a mate to any of the wolves. Once there Jasmine discovers more than just a mate. She also discovers that The Order may not be what it seems. Not only are the wolves endangered but Jasmine may be as well.
I loved this book. The characters are well-developed, the connections are legitimate, and the mystery and danger surrounding The Order are intriguing. There are so many surprises, minor and major and so many unknown dangers. It's thrilling. But the biggest draw to the book is the trio, Jas, Benji, and Liam (and Josh). Jasmine is like an unpolished gem. I feel that there is so much to uncover with her. I look for her to blossom in the next book, both in power and as a female. Benji and Liam are powerful, sexy Alphas. Josh was the easiest to connect to. The friendship and protectiveness he offered up so easily endeared him to me. These characters draw you in, in good and bad ways. I was so caught up in my emotions at times I am sure I came across as a crazy lady. The story picks up intensity as it goes along and once you reach the point of no return in the final chapters, you are so deeply entrenched in Jasmine's story that there is no putting this book down. You will be left wanting the next book immediately. Like a screaming for the author to write faster wanting. It's an addictive book. More, please!!
Untamed (Sons of Zeus Book 1)
by Tamara White ****REVIEW
Val's life is nothing special; she's still living at home with an abusive mother who spent her entire college fund, working two jobs, and plagued by nightmares and blackouts. It's about to get much worse. The morning after her 21st birthday Val wakes up covered in blood and accused of murdering the most important person in her life. The court releases her into her father's custody to live in his gated community until her trial. The community is completely closed off, walled in. It could be worse. She gets the pool house all for herself, she gets to attend the community's college, and she has 4 new, incredibly hot step-brothers. Once she arrives her blackouts get worse, her dreams become more intense, and there's a darkness building inside of her that scares her. Val tries to push her step-brothers away but she can't. They are drawn to one another and they may be her only hope. Her life has been full of secrets and now she's learning the truth. Nothing is what she thought. And why does it seem that she's being followed by a crow??
Untamed is the first book in the Sons of Hades series. It's a mythical new RH with gods, demigods, witches, and magic. Shadow Land is a fascinating premise; the world-building and history create a solid foundation for the series. The characters are wonderful. Val is a complicated female. She's smart, loving, and loyal; and though it might seem that she's too accepting because of the way she allowed her mother to treat her, she's no doormat. She's scared, worried, confused; basically overwhelmed. I have a good feeling about her for the future. The brothers, Jax, Zane, and the twins Cooper, and Carter each have established characters and different approaches to Val. Fun-loving Carter, quiet Cooper, outspoken Zane, and intense Jax. Val feels a connection with all of them and their time spent individually and as a group helps make the relationships feel natural. Hades is the wild card. I am intrigued by this dynamic. The side characters are a mixed bag; I wasn't impressed by Val's parents, Justin made me uncomfortable, Cassandra is great, and Nat is awesome. Each is vital to the story.
The story premise is so entertaining. I was unable to put this book down. It's definitely my favorite book written by Tamara White to date. The tension builds from beginning to end and the ending leaves you in turmoil. I'm not sure cliffhanger even begins to accurately describe the ending. So much is revealed, so much happens but we are left at a crucial moment. Everything changes in a second and I have no idea what happens next. I can't wait for more!
Her Protectors (Wolf Trials #2)
by Tamara White ****REVIEW
Her Protectors continues the journey of Dani from her "normal" life of being a werewolf in hiding to becoming the Alpha Queen with her Alpha Pack. Sheltered her entire life from the shifter world, she doesn't know their ways, rules, history and now she's expected to rule over all of the Packs. That is if she can pass (and survive) the trials. She has her mates, her Enforcers, and her grandparents, but she has lost the person she loved most in the world, her father. And Luke is still out there, waiting for his chance to kill her. It's too much for a 17 year old girl!
The trials honesty seem to be the least of her worries, other than dealing with the Elders. She is meant to be Queen. What doesn't come so easily is her new life as a werewolf and her relationship with her mates. Her body is out of control since her first shift. It's not just her enormous appetite. Her emotions are hyper-sensitive and there are other changes that are great for the packs, but leave her out-of-control. Dani has moments of self-pity or bratty behavior, but with everything going on in her life, it's perfectly understandable. I wish that everyone would take more time to remember how new to this world she is and help educate her. But it's her moments of strength and kindness make me love her. She's a fantastic lead female. Her mates are wonderful, but they're still mostly teenage guys. Dani's still getting to know them and now their families. There is drama, there is danger. There are building passions and tensions. And a mate surprise. I loved the individual moments shared between Dani and each of her mates. The one on one time makes their bond seem deeper, more meaningful than something orchestrated by their wolves.
This book is incredibly entertaining. Be prepared to stay up all night reading! So much action, so many feels. Anger, angst, heartbreak. Humor, passion, hope. Then it ends with a cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers. I screamed at Dani, I screamed at Tamara. Both ladies have a lot of explaining to do! I loved every second of this book, but this is rough. UGH! I agree with the action, but not with how it was carried out. We all must learn to use our words!!!!

Her Mates (Wolf Trials #1)
Her Mates is a very good start to a new Reverse Harem series. Dani is a young werewolf who has been raised by her single father in the human world. They have lived a life on the run after the murder of her mother. Now it's time to join the packs and claim her rightful place. Knowing next to nothing about the world she is entering, Dani's life is upended in a short time. She has to learn werewolf politics, customs, compete in trials, pick a mate, and of course stay alive.

Silver Blood (Blood Series #2)
False Blood
by Tamara White ****REVIEW
Emerald has never been like the rest of the pack. Raised by the Alpha, the man she always called father, she didn't fit in with the other werewolves. They are thin and tall, she's curvy. They all have black hair and blue eyes, she's a strawberry blond with green eyes. She's so different her father has forbidden her to shift. She keeps "her beast" locked away. An incident at training forces her beast to the surface and her father has to send her away in order to save her life. He also reveals her big secret. Emmy is half werewolf/half vampire. Now she's on the run to her real parents. Will they accept her or will she be cast out? Her journey to meet her parents changes her life in ways that she couldn't even begin to imagine. This is an outstanding book!
This is the third series from Tamara White. I am a fan of both her Evelyn Storm series and her Wolf Trial series, but False Blood may be my favorite book of her's yet. It grabs you from page one and you cannot put it down until the final word. Emerald is a beautiful, insecure girl who wants to fit in, to find a home, and to be accepted and loved. She's so easy to identify with. The vampires in her life are YUMMY! Dev is perfect from the start and Nik joins him soon after. I never really forgave Talon for his actions despite his reasons, but if he makes Emmy happy, she can keep him. Her parents and dear friend Britt are wonderful, while Xander, Brendon, and Heather are equally horrible. It makes for a fun read having the characters firmly established as good or bad.
This is a book full of 'feels'. There's danger, pain, rejection, jealousy, hurt; there's hope, acceptance, passion, and love. There's werewolves, vampires, one very special hybrid, and witches. There are sexy times. Whatever you want, this book has it! Like I said, outstanding! I loved it!

Pure Elemental (Evelyn Storm Series #3) by Tamara White ***REVIEW
I would give this book a 4 star for storytelling, but only a 2 star for writing, so I settled for a 3. This series is so frustrating; it needs major editing. This has been an issue the entire series. Again, I offer free services. I may miss some of the more obscure grammatical rules, but I could clean up the typos, incorrect word usage, add commas where needed, etc. If I didn't love the story and believe in the characters I would have given up on this series by now. Enough of the complaining and on to the review!
Pure Elemental picks up exactly where book 2 left off. Evie has been kidnapped by her father and being held with Christian and Zach. Once again the book has a nice balance between action and relationship building. There's plenty of angst. Several new characters are introduced; the return of a parent and 2 new bonds. We finally find out the total number of bonds which was nice. I was afraid that they would just keep coming. We do get more background information on a couple of the guys adding layer to their stories. Evie's pregnancy progresses and brings a high level of hormones producing major breakdowns.
There's conflict between Evie and her original bonds, so we don't get as much time as I would have liked with them. They were missing too much in this book and aren't as committed to Evie as I would like. Ky continues to be one of my favorites. Again I have issues with Dane. They are supposed to have the strongest bond, yet I don't feel it. He seems closer to Zach. While I have no issue with m/m, it feels like they both care more for each other than for Evie. Fair or not, it bothers me. Also, he proved again that he can't be totally trusted to not hurt her with his choices. Their relationship needs improving if I am to believe their bond is the most true. I love the closeness between Evie and Christian. Even with the barrier between their bond, this is a believable relationship. Jeremy is a fascinating add.
The story has some inconsistencies but is absolutely entertaining. It's strangely addictive. It ends on a cliff note building suspense for the next books. I will continue reading because I need to know (not now) how the story plays out for the world and for Evie and the guys, but please clean it up before the book is published.

Saved Elemental (Evelyn Storm Series #2)
Once again I have a mixed review. I enjoyed book 2 of the Evelyn Storm series more than book 1. The story progression is nice, the spacing is good, and I appreciated the original character development as well as the addition of new, critical characters. However, there are still too many editing issues. The writing is choppy/jumpy at times and there are still way too many typos or incorrect word usages. I would have given this a 4 star if it had been edited better. Still improved from the first draft of book 1!!
This is an action-packed book full of danger and intrigue. There's less time for romance between Evelyn and her guys which was a shame. It was nice to get to know some of Evelyn's family. Evelyn and all of the guys make for great characters. The guys are equal measure frustration and perfection.
The book ended on a cliffhanger very similar to the first one. With so much left uncertain, I am eager for book 3. It looks like we could get a mix of heartache and happiness mingled in with the adventure. I still have high hopes for this series.

Fallen Elemental (Evelyn Storm Series #1
This is an update to my original review which is still below. I wanted to add a couple stars after the edit revisions. It is much improved although it still has too many errors. I also applaud the book being added to KU. Mistakes are much more forgivable when you don't have to look at a book's sticker price. I still maintain that the actual story and characters are wonderful.
WOW! This book was definitely not a bad idea; not terribly original, but a good concept. It was very poorly executed. It is in severe need of proofreading and editing. There is hardly a page without typos. And yet that's still not the worst of it. I think the author would benefit from a writing class complete with grammar and spelling rules. I am truly trying to be helpful, not mean. There are so many cases of run-on sentences, incorrect grammar, and incorrect word usage in general that it's distracting. The same mistakes are repeated throughout the book, so I don't think it was only poor editing. Even though the pages were labeled by character, when conversations started up, the speakers would change, going back and forth within a paragraph, sometimes within a run-on sentence, so that it was confusing. All basic writing rules were ignored to the detriment of the book.
Enough of the criticism. The story has potential and the characters are engaging. With quite a bit of polish, this could be a good series. I wish I could read the follow-up book because I am interested to know what happens next, but I can't pay for another low-quality book. I would be more than happy to review it, even help edit it, but I can say that this book definitely wasn't worth the listed price.

Loving My Pack (My Pack #3)
by Lane Whitt ****REVIEW
So many changes. Kitten is the Ivaskov pack princess, her mates are their Alphas, the Australian pack has declared war (which her mates are keeping a secret), she is a mom to Mikey and now expecting another baby. In many ways, she's never been happier, but the Ivaskov packhouse doesn't feel like home, she doesn't get to spend enough time with her mates, and it seems she can never be what others expect of her. Kitten has the family she always dreamed of; nothing and no one is going to take them away from her. She's determined to make the wolf shifters see there is a better way to live and to keep her family safe. This review can't be started until I make it clear how happy I am that Lane Whitt was able to complete Kitten's story. It was a long wait and that worked against the author but all in all I would call this book a success. The story arc is completed and took twists and turns I didn't see coming yet stayed true to the overall narrative. Each of the character's roles was left defined and the relationships solid. Obviously, with this many guys, some seemed to get more story time and ended up feeling closer to Kitten. I would have liked more time with Ash but enjoyed every minute I got and I will be honest, it's possible I would never be satisfied with his time. I felt like Kellen was left out the most which shouldn't have been the case since Kitten was pregnant. There was never an exam! I also thought he had moments where he was less connected than the others and one where I didn't care for his attitude at all. Reed, Logan, Finn, and Jace each remained true to their characters and Remy and Tristan shined. Remy can't help but steal his pages and Tristan's story was heartbreaking, infuriating, and made me love him even more. The most severe character growth was definitely Kitten. It wasn't all good. I love sweet, naive Kitten. I like straightforward, stubborn Kitten. I am not a fan of dark Kitten. It served the story well but I think she lost a bit of her adorableness along the way. I guess this is to be expected considering all things.
I will admit I am a sucker for a happy ending and boy, oh boy, oh girl this one made me really happy. Furbabies in the truest sense. I loved everything; the pregnancy hysterics, the shopping, the arrival, the sibling tussles, EVERYTHING! Now with that preview, I have another book I look forward to!
Keeping My Pack (My Pack #2)
by Lane Whitt ***review
This was a fitting second book. The relationships evolve very naturally. I would never have expected that I could enjoy a reverse harem book since the idea of a harem is unappealing to me on every level. I am apparently a hypocrite! I enjoy that the author has managed to make this believable to me and she has created true individual relationships within the group. Amazing.

Finding My Pack (My Pack #1)
by Lane Whitt ***REVIEW
I'll be honest, I didn't realize what this book was about when I started it. It was surprisingly entertaining. The lead female is a bit immature, but likable. The guys are each a defined character and the individual and group relationships actually worked for me. It's fun, fast paced with danger thrown in. The cliffhanger ensured that I will continue with the second book to see where the story goes.
**Note: This was my first RH. My introduction into the genre that I quickly became addicted to. I will always have a soft spot for this book and these characters.

VISIONARY X STARLIGHT (Earthala #3)
by Yumoyori Wilson ****REVIEW
Operation St Patrick's Day on Earthala is underway. Green beer and milkshakes. Pole Dances and Strip Clubs. Kisses and more. Shenanigans galore. Mako and her Star Knights join Scarlet and her team for a 4-day holiday celebrating all things Irish. This time they are joined by Mako's brothers, Kade and Xavier and of course Nightmare and Moonlight. It's a long, drink-filled fun weekend.
I love the cross-overs between the best friends. This is a fun, steamy read. There's a little too much drunkenness for my taste but that pretty much sums up St Paddy's Day in general. And I did enjoy tipsy, pole dancing Mako. I love the message of universal love these books have. Love is love is love in all of its beautiful forms. I have to admit that I was a little disappointed with Male Princess. I had hoped for more M/M. I did understand and it would have been a leap for the characters. Maybe next time Marcus gets more involved. (hint, hint).
With all of the serious, heavy responsibilities these princesses and their men face, these lighthearted books are the perfect holidays for us all to enjoy.

VISIONARY X STARLIGHT (Earthala Series Book 2) by Yumoyori Wilson ****REVIEW
Mako and Scar. Two beautiful, intelligent girls. Neither understands the appeal of Valentine's Day. One has lived a life in brutal captivity, the other lived with a cheating boyfriend. Now both are with their own group of incredibly sexy, sweet men who are determined to make this Valentine's day special. Kai, Marcus, and Elias take Mako to Earthala to enjoy a four-day Valentine lover's celebration. Ethan, Junho, and Christian want to show Scarlet that Valentine's can be more fun than binging on Netflix and devouring chocolate she bought for herself. The men outdo themselves. Shopping, movies, cooking classes, romantic dinners, and plenty of sexy times!
I have to say I am a fan of these Holiday cross-over stories. They are pure fun! I would have gladly stepped into Mako's shoes for this one. Cooking classes with chocolate, fun shopping trips, sexy-time drives, surprises, and unicorns. So sweet and romantic. Not that Scarlet got shorted the fun; a magical village, girl time, catching up with Christian. Scorching hot! Is it possible to be jealous over fictional characters?? I can't wait until St Patrick's Day!

VISIONARY X STARLIGHT (Earthala Series Book 1) by Yumoyori Wilson *****REVIEW
Badass Princess meets Rookie Criminal Investigator… Love this line! This is the vacation every Visionary and Starlight reader has been waiting for! Makoto's Star Knights are taking her to Earthala to meet Marcus's friend Junho, his girlfriend Scarlet, and the rest of Team Seven. Mako is a bundle of nerves looking forward to seeing the new realm and desperately wanting to make a new girlfriend. Scarlet is anxiously eager to meet the girl she has heard so much about from Marcus. She too would like another girlfriend. Neither they, nor their guys could ever imagine the impact caused by these two meeting; sleepwalking escapades, dessert and amusement park competitions, car chases, milk and "milk" mishaps, and mall fights. Both of these girls have a nose for trouble but together it's nearly non-stop pandemonium! This is a friendship that can outshine the sun.
I LOVED every second of this book! I am now addicted to these two besties. There was so much story packed into the pages. While forming a friendship and sharing confidences, these two faced danger and took down bad guys. They packed so many fun times into the week. Their guys and spirits all got spotlighted and relationships strengthened. We found out more about both groups. Plus, we got to see the relationship between Nightmare and Moonlight. Beyond adorable! Whether it involved a unicorn or whale, an unexpected Mako moment, a onesie, the hysterical spirit dialogue, one on one time between the girls or one of the girls and one of her guys this book is a feel-good read. I laughed, I got the warm fuzzies. There is value in this. Mako is a special character. She has faced the worst and survived. Now she has found a rare happiness. Her blend of innocence and pure joy, her quirkiness and inner beauty create one of my favorite characters ever. She could be broken and bitter, instead, she shines. She encourages love. Mako and Scarlet coming together as fast friends are so fitting. Two unique women with so many areas in common. Thank the stars that their worlds came together!
I look forward to the continuing shenanigans of Mako and Scar and the continuing exasperation of their guys! Luckily we have Valentine's and St Patrick's Day to look forward to!!! Then there's the 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving and I am certain other realms have Holidays too. We don't have to stick only to Earthala. There's a wealth of cross-over possibility. Don't even get me started about adding a certain lion shifter and a magnificent unicorn shifter.

Visionary New Years (Paranormal INC #2) by Yumoyori Wilson **** REVIEW
Scarlet and Cece always ring in the New Year together. This year they are taking a cruise and are planning the best time ever. One long party! Since Cece is taking Vincent along, Team Seven decides that they are going with their girl. It should be perfect but the group has barely boarded when they get the call that this will be a working vacation. There is someone on board that plans to blow the ship up after finishing a shady drug deal. The team has little to go on; no name, no face, only that they are dealing with a wealthy shifter. Scarlet and Christian will go undercover to try to solve the case with the rest of the team working back-up. Of course, the best-laid plans don't stay on track when Scarlet is involved, but she always pulls it off, in the end, while looking smoking hot in her heels and with her perfect red lips.
VisionaryInvestigator
(Paranormal INC #1) by Yumoyori Wilson ****REVIEW
Scarlet is not your average girl. Whether it's her bright orange hair, her killer curves or the fact that she receives visions whenever her palms touch solid objects, she's one of a kind. This hasn't made life easy. Her mother was murdered when she was still small, her dad ran off. Known as the weird fainting girl who wears gloves she has been shunned. She has a loser boyfriend and an awesome bestie Cece. However, she's brilliant and determined to be a success as a criminologist. While on assignment with acclaimed Team Seven for her final exam one touch changes her life forever. Their current case happens to be a deadly one and is highly personal to Scarlet. Her "gift" is invaluable to the team and may just keep her alive. It also leads her to an apprenticeship with the team of 5 gorgeous guys who are all at the top of their chosen field and whom all want to be with Scarlet. A whole new world is opened to Scarlet with Team 7. There is much she never knew. This includes information about herself as well.
Jaxson, Christian, Junho, Ethan, and Michael make up Team Seven. Kendrick is their boss and a special father figure to Scarlet. I loved his relationship with Scarlet. They are all paranormals, shifters of a type from different planets. They have all suffered great loss, are successful, and are incredibly hot. Each scene delivers a new favorite guy. They are all pretty perfect and their connection with Scarlet rings true. I loved their tender, caring, protective ways with Scarlet. I wasn't a fan of the timing of when Scar got together with Jaxson, but I did understand it and I love the two together. There is already depth to their bond. Cece is as good as it gets in the best friend department. She is ruthlessly loyal and protective of Scar. Every girl needs a Cece in her life. Moonlight, Scarlet's cat is a kickass kitty. I adored this little guy. And then we get to Scarlet herself. Despite the fainting and crying, she is seriously strong. She managed to handle every shocking revelation thrown her way. She adapted to each deadly situation using her brain and skills. She embraced her new circumstances and "personas". I love each time she took ownership of herself and the situation. Dancing, car buying or putting a witch in her place, Scar's a cool chick!
The storyline was highly entertaining. It's told in multiple POV's and incorporates dreams from Scarlet's childhood. Scarlet as a young child was absolutely precious. The bad guy, Xerxes is a worthy opponent. This is important to me. The case was far-reaching and had huge implications. The cross-over with the Starlight books, Ms. Wilson's other series was brilliant. I can't wait for the Mako/Scar friendship!!! This could have easily been a five star. I took off a star due to repetition on the first part of the book. However, as I said it was entertaining. The first conversation between Scarlet and Cece convinced me that it was a must-read for anyone and everyone who enjoys Reverse Harem. I can't wait for more!

Forgotten Fairytale (Starlight Gods)
DANIEL (Starlight Gods #6)
My name is Daniel Moore — a healer, star knight, host to an Archangel, and lover. Daniel has never been overly ambitious. He could easily heal cuts and bruises but didn't work to develop his stronger powers. In fact, if asked, he would tell you sleeping was his specialty. That changed the moment he saw his beautiful Firefly covered in blood. From that moment on he dedicated himself to getting stronger, more powerful. His one goal; return Mako to health and restore her beautiful smile. This time she needed Him, Daniel. And once he repaired the damage he had caused to their relationship, he restored her health, her legs. Now Mako needs him again. She's been taken and he needs to be stronger than ever to help bring her home. In order to do this, he must face his past. He must deal with his family problems, his guilt, and his fears. He must claim every part of himself. For Mako, he can finally do this.

RYDER (Starlight Gods #4)
by Yumoyori Wilson *****REVIEW
A leader is one who keeps their head up high, in any situation.
A knight is one who is strong, diligent and ready to lay their life on the line for those they've sworn to protect.
A lover is one who'd do anything to see their companion smile.
I am all of those things.
I am Ryder Carter, host to the demon spirit Stryker, son of King Alexander Carter and Queen Violet Carter of Minato; leader of the Star Knights of Rosalina Mackenzie Heart (Makoto) future heir of Heila and Savior from the darkness; lover to the only girl in the world for me, Mako. I love my family, my brother knights, and especially Mako. I have failed them all more than once, but I will never quit trying my best to be what they need.
This is Ryder's story, a look at the man who fills so many roles, has so much weight on his shoulders. This is Ryder's POV of the first two Starlight Gods Books. It's a heartfelt story full of his self-doubt, the unattainable expectations he places upon himself, his hopes, his dreams, his fears. It's an emotional journey from childhood to early manhood. The outside world sees a secure, powerful young man but we meet Ryder and he's so much more than his image. This is a loving, caring man who feels every emotion around him. He has insecurities and anxiety. He is full of regret and guilt but still hopeful and willing.
I was enchanted with the childhood meeting and friendship between Ryder and Rosalina. She had already secured the role of my favorite fictional little girl and Ryder quickly joined her. Is it possible to have a 'favorite couple under age 10' category? They win hands down. Adorable, precious, sweet only touch upon this part of the book. I also enjoyed Ryder having to deal with Rosalina's protective big brothers. So funny and cute. This part of the book was delightful. Ryder was so eager and earnest, so open and enthusiastic. But his childhood ended the moment Rosalina was taken. She may have suffered in the most horrible ways for 16 years but Ryder's life changed forever that night too. Guilt and anxiety became a part of his character. Self-doubt won a bigger slice of his inner thoughts. This was only magnified when Anya was taken years later. Still, he didn't give up, give in to the darkness; he learned to lead his team and was rewarded when they found his love, their princess. It was enlightening to get to know him this in-depth. I now understand him. I love and respect the man he has become. He's strong, devoted, loving, good. For too brief of time, he found the happiness he had always wanted. He had everything his heart desired. Then Mako was hurt again and it's almost more than the team can deal with this time. However, they have each been there to help Ryder and Stryker through their rough moments, he won't fail them now. Ryder will be strong, he will be there for Mako and her Knights. He and Stryker will get them all through this with the help of the Starlight gods.
I almost believe this book should come with a warning! If you finish this book without swooning over Ryder repeatedly and loving him completely, I need you to contact me and explain how that can possibly be! This book is so good but it will cause emotional overload. I read with glassy eyes through the better part of the book. It causes a heavy heart in the best and worst of ways. It is nearly impossible to put down once you start reading. And it leaves you craving to know what happens next.

Starlight Christmas - Holiday Edition(Starlight Gods #3) by Yumoyori Wilson **** REVIEW
Mako's childhood was definitely not like the little girls she read about in her storybooks. All she knew was a life of testing, pain, and loss. That's all changed since she was found and rescued by her Star Knights, but the scars of her childhood remain. While spending a cozy afternoon with Marcus Mako ran across the Christmas book she read each year; a book about a little girl named Christina and her lovely Christmas. Overwhelmed by her memories Mako cried out her pain to Marcus. She explained that she had never experienced a real Christmas and of her heartrending efforts to pretend one. Upon learning the story, her Knights plan the best Christmas ever on Earthala to create all new memories. Each Knight would get their own date to share their favorite parts of Christmas to Mako and then the group would attend Kai's Art Christmas Galleria and spend Christmas Eve together.
This is a delightful Holiday story. Christmas shopping with Marcus, baking with Elias, ice skating with Eli, a spa day with Daniel, the Galleria with Kai, and a truly magical winter theme park with Ryder. Wonderful dinners, walks, sleigh rides, even a bit of flying. And tons of incredible sex! A girl couldn't ask for more. There are appearances by Scarlet and her team and even the Demon Queen Cece. Each of Mako's spirits gets time and their male counterparts are all included. It's a perfect Christmas for all.
I only have one complaint. I had a problem with the spirits in this book. I felt like they acted a bit selfishly at times, specifically Eli and Midnight and Azriel and Hope. Mako didn't get to participate in the date with Eli at all! I love Midnight, but there was no sharing. Mako missed out on the ice skating and the little house. Then because of Hope's actions, Mako spent a day in bed sick. I realize that the spirits are all a part of Mako, but Mako is always the most important to me. I can and will get jealous on her behalf even if it's with her spirits. Mako is kind and thoughtful, accepting and generous. She is still unbelievably innocent and deserves each and every good moment, every thoughtful gesture, every bit of love coming her way.
All in all, this is a lovely Christmas book. It showcases the best of the Holiday Season, caring for others, trying to make one another happy, and to show each other the love we feel for them. Gave me the warm fuzzies!

Tainted Rose (Starlight Gods #2)
by Yumoyori Wilson ****REVIEW
Tainted Rose is the return of my favorite sleep-walking, milk-chugging, inner/outer dialogue sharing Princess! Mako and her Star Knights survived the Owner's attack using Midnight's brilliant battle strategy, however, Elias/Eli are still suffering from poison effects and Mako is in a coma. There is no sign of her spirits and her Knights and their spirits are lost without their firefly. Fear and guilt are their constant emotions as they pray for her to wake up. Mako does find her way back, once again bringing them joy, but each of her Knights seems to be facing their own demons. She isn't the only one to have suffered during childhood. Mako is their best hope for facing down their pasts and finding happiness.
Mako is a breath of fresh air. She is a most original character. She's loving, brave, intense, grateful,
spunky, defiant, generous, innocent, joyful. The small child that was once described as a ninja princess has grown into a fierce young woman. A character that can boast "Ordinary is boring. I'm unique and one of a kind" and still be adorable is special indeed. She touched me one moment and amused me the next. Her spirits and Midnight are each true characters themselves. Rose's confidence, Lexi's naughtiness, Hope's purity, Lily's kindness, and Midnight's protectiveness. I love when they all chime in. I also adore Nightmare. Mako's Knights are everything good men should be. They are adoring, faithful, brave, smart. They are amusing and oh so, sexy, Eli included. Several are suffering for various reasons and Mako and the other Knights are supportive and loving. This seems to be working in each case except for Daniel. The guys are healing. His past is starting to create more tension with Midnight and even interfere with his bond with Mako. He was frustrating in this book. Kai was a welcome addition. I loved him immediately.
This book had some of everything. There were sweet dates, sexual tension and sexy times. There were 'Heck yes, You Go Girl!' moments and 'Choke on what you're drinking with laughter' moments and 'Toe-curling, lust-inducing Mine' moments. We got so much of the guy's history. We have a much better understanding of them personally now. We got plenty of time between Mako and each Knight and her spirits with their spirits. New information surfaced vaguely that deepens the danger of coming darkness and Mako's role fighting for the good. There are suspense and intrigue. Honestly, I was so deeply entertained while reading I didn't want to stop for dinner. It's a stay up all night reading kind of story.
I could have easily given this a 5 star. I went back and forth more than once trying to make up my mind. This is what I want out of my Reverse Harem. A group of incredible, gorgeous men all completely devoted to their girl. One beautiful, feisty female in love and grateful for her guys. Relationships moving forward with only a touch of drama. My hesitation came from the repetition during the first of the book. So much sleeping. Then there's the absence of any of Mako's family. If other Royals can have contact and she's not hidden, I do not understand what could possibly keep her parents (mother) away. Once again the ending is pure torture. Darkness is coming, for some, it's already arrived. Everything is hanging in the balance for Mako and her Knights once more. I am dying here. Stars, I want more now!

Dark Wish (Starlight Gods #1)
by Yumoyori Wilson ****REVIEW
Dark Wish is the story of Makoto Heart, a special young lady. In a world where people are given the gift of one or two spirits by the Starlight gods, Mako has 3 spirits, an Angel Hope, a Demon Rose, and a Dragon Lexi. She later received the gift of a Phoenix spirit she named Lily and is a split personality; her other self named Midnight. She holds no memories of her childhood before age 6, but since then has been raised by her Owner in a facility where she has been experimented on and tortured. She lost her only friend under traumatic circumstances and has been brutalized and ostracized daily. Still, after enduring all of this, she is not ruined. She may be hurt, she may be adorably odd, but she is sweet, caring, smart, and resilient. More than anything she wants freedom and a home to call her own. When it seems that the worst ending has arrived, she is rescued by 4 starlight knights and the truth comes out. She's more than experiment 555, she's the kidnapped Princess of Heila. She is prophesied to bring peace to all the realms. The knights take her to hide at an academy while they get word to her family that she is safe. There she gets to know her knights, makes a friend, makes an enemy or four, learns about her world, strengthens her magic, and gets her familiar, Nightmare. Her knights are Ryder, the leader who has a demon spirit; Daniel, the healer who has an Angel spirit, Marcus, the warrior with the Dragon spirit, and Elias, the mystery. There is a 5th guard Kai back in her home realm. "Her best friend Eli appears to possibly be a fairy." And her familiar is a powerful furball named Nightmare.
This is a wonderfully original book. Very creative writing. The world building and back story are exceptional. The characters are multi-layered, very intricate. Mako is the star of the book. She is amazing. The love her spirits and her split share with her; her quirkiness; her love of milk, her sleepwalking, her missions are fantastic. Her abilities are awesome. But her happiness is what makes her special. This girl is full of life. The fact that she is full of love and joy is incredible. She is incredible. The knight's reactions to her are perfect and so is her friendship with Eli. I love how she can be so strong and so fragile all at once. Operation Bada** B***. Priceless!
My only complaint was the editing. Tenses were a problem and we'll became well periodically. There were other times this was an issue, but these examples will do. The errors were items that would escape spellcheck. Nothing horrible, but for a book this good, I wish that they had been caught.
This book had some of everything; action, romance, suspense, humor, danger, anger, sadness. It really was a fantastic read. The ending was brutal and left me in shock. I have so many questions about what comes next. The Owner? The Knights? What about Kai? I need an explanation about the unexpected flash of light. I need more of Mako and her knights, more of Mako and her spirits. I can't wait for Tainted Rose in November.

Celestia (Unicorn Blessed Chronicles #2)
Celestia Rainbow, the only unicorn shifter on record and Team Misfit have ended up at the true Aslan Academy, School for Hunters and Huntresses run by Headmaster Orlando Rainbow, Celestia's father. They are all a bit shell-shocked and worse for wear after the Forsaken attack at the other Aslan Academy. Celestia's test results show her to not be tainted but something is definitely not quite right with her. Her sleep is interrupted by dreams of a dark man and claims that she is to be his Queen of Darkness helping to completely destroy the universe. She has no memories when she wakens but the dreams are taking effect, making her weaker. Her guys are each searching for ways to help protect her and keep her safe. Time is not on their side. Even though they are battered and bruised Team Misfit must prove that they belong at Aslan Academy. They must submit to five trials, challenges that could strengthen them or break them, possibly even kill them. Whether it's to test her guys as she is their biggest weakness or there's a more devious intent once again it appears Celestia is being targeted. Feeling alone, hurt, confused, and worn down Celestia is more vulnerable to the Darkness than before but Finn, Hunter, Orion, Theo, Caio, and Cairus, as well as Arielle, Sia, Magnor and a few new allies inside and outside the Academy, are determined to keep her in the Light.
Book 2 of the Unicorn Blessed Chronicles continues the entertaining story of Celestia and her men. Everything is heightened this time around. The trials are deadlier. The bonds between Celestia and her guys are deepening, strengthening, getting hotter. The Darkness is closing in. The characters are becoming more real, each gaining more background history, each revealing their inner struggles. It makes most so much more beloved. This is not the case for Orlando Rainbow. His neglect and disinterest in his only daughter are infuriating. I would like to send him out alone to battle a dozen Rhinroy! Magnor won another piece of my heart as Celestia's true father.
This book continues the themes of bullying, uniqueness, pain, and loneliness, finding one's place, surviving, thriving, and loving. Happiness looks different for everyone and strength comes in many forms. This series is a great reminder of just how special and sparkly each one of us naturally is. It ends with a major twist. Not everything is as it seems, again! It just keeps getting better, making me want more and more.

CELESTIA (Unicorn Blessed Chronicles #1)
by Yumoyori Wilson ****REVIEW
Celestia Rainbow is a rarity, a unicorn shifter. She's been on her own from an early age, bullied to the point of not being able to withstand anymore, then taken in and trained by one of the dimension's legends, Master Magnor Rune. She's incredibly advanced in magical spells and academics. She also has another side, Sia Rainbow who is an expert at fighting, martial arts, and all things physical. Together they make one kick-a** young shifter. Celestia dreams of being a huntress and has been accepted into the prestigious Aslan Academy. If she can pass the initial trials, prove her worth, she will be assigned to a team and one step closer to her dream. No problem, even when her team happens to also include 6 hot, tempting, young men.
A fabled unicorn shifter, a wonderfully complex leading lady, six hot guys, a great adventure; what more could you ask for in a book! Celestia is insecure, desperate for love; she's also kind, overly accepting and understanding, grateful, and loving. She reminds me of one of my favorite literary characters of all time; Anne of Green Gables. Sia is fierce, desiring only that Celestia be happy. She's strong, protective, and doesn't put up with as much abuse. They put up a confident front but they just want to feel that they belong. Two sides of the same person. Throw in a glittery rainbow-loving, ditzy, earth-hugging, free-love after-effect of magic overuse and this is one of the most multi-faceted characters Yumoyori Wilson has created to date. Her relationship with her familiar Arielle and her Master were both touching. Who knew "Bru-REE" could mean so many things! The guys were equally complicated. Selfless Finn, protective Hunter, the funny twins Caio and Cairus, mysterious Orion, and kind, caring Theo. Team Misfit. They each have troubled, painful pasts that drew them together as friends. Now they are the perfect fit for Celestia.
This book is one of world and character building, backstory, and story setting. It's also packed full of adventure and a touch of romance. There's humor, suspense, and heartbreaking moments. Along with a captivating story, this book deals with heavy issues such as bullying, depression, and suicidal thoughts. It also shows the characters overcoming the adversity, growing closer, getting stronger. This is a great start to a new series. The book ended with a surprise twist that has me looking forward to the next one already!

Arielle Rainbow (Familiar Blessed Chronicles Book 1) by
Arielle was the youngest child in her Phoenix family, beloved by her parents and her two older brothers Aaron and Alec but life as a phoenix-harpy hybrid was difficult. Hybrids were not welcome so from her earliest days she was excluded and bullied. The fact that she was clearly gifted and powerful fueled the jealousy. It didn't matter that she was adorable, sweet, and loving. She was different. Her family did their best to protect her but it was decided that they would move to a nearby hybrid village. Before they could make the move tragedy struck and Arielle was left to find her own way. With the help and sacrifice of another Arielle remained safe for a while longer. However, it wasn't too long before she was on her own again. Just as it looked like all hoe was lost, Arielle was rescued by a little girl with mismatched eyes. And so begins the story of Arielle Rainbow as she becomes family with Celestia Rainbow and Magnor, becomes Celestia's familiar/sister, as she accompanies Celestia to Aslan and watches her Mistress fall in love with six men. Arielle thrives at Aslan every bit as much as Celestia. She gets more powerful, lives part of her life as a human, protects her mistress, makes a friend, and then the day comes when Arielle meets her own men. Men who quickly realize just how special Arielle Rainbow truly is.

Calming the Storm (Crimson Storm Chronicles #2) by
Crimson Arashi is a human, a disgrace to her father, a disgrace to her House. She's not worthy of his time, attention or love. Her mother is too weak to stand against him and her boyfriend is ashamed of her so they appear as roommates to the rest of the world. Crimson is smart, a talented artist but born human to a powerful mage and a kitsune with magic, she is of no value to their world. She is alone. After a particularly ugly family dinner and a night of drinking, Crimson has an encounter with a thief that leaves her in possession and control of a valuable pocket watch. The watch is a vessel containing the magic, memories, and essence of the recently murdered Storm Yuna, the most powerful female magician in the world. Along with the watch comes the promise to avenge Storm, care for her familiar, Uru, and take care of her guards/loves, Aki, Yoshi, Malachi, Itsuki, Haru, and Quil.
Taming the Storm is superb storytelling. A paranormal shifter/magician story placed in a partially modern, partially ancient Japanese culture. A lead female who is convinced of her own worthlessness, willing to allow everyone around her to discredit and demean her. Six lovers who just lost the love of their lives. These do not seem like components for a successful story. They are. The Japanese backdrop is exquisite. Crimson is humble, talented, unbelievably strong, and has an unmatched capacity for love. The guards take time to remember and mourn Storm while getting to know and fall for Crimson. It's not disrespectful like I feared, they honor her memory. I was uncomfortable with the idea of a harem moving from one happy relationship to another like the women are interchangeable but it was handled with decency.
The story itself is overflowing; world-building, character introduction, action, critical information. Memories, dreams, and feelings all keep the reader involved even as time works against Crimson. It adds to the tension as does the general worry stemming from all of the guys. This is not a book you can set down easily! It doesn't end with a true cliffhanger but there's still so much story to be told. Ms. Wilson continues to impress me with her talented storytelling.
*Personal note: Having lived in Asia for several years I am so appreciative of this book's setting. It captures the grace, dignity, and beauty of old Japan. It also shows the other side; just how harsh treatment can be when expectations are not met and the hidden corruption and violence of the streets. The acknowledgment of the artistry of swords in Japan and the illustrations of the cherry trees and blossoms were welcome touches. The blossom and the sword. Beauty and strength. Storm Crimson.

REFLECTIONS OF YOU (Brighten Magic Academy #1)
Jewel/Jinn. Jewel has suffered so much loss in her life already; the deaths of her father and dear brother Gabriel and the deterioration of her mother due to Alzheimer’s. She feels the weight of the responsibility to care for her mother and make her happy but it's difficult when her mother doesn't see her but her deceased brother when she looks at Jewel. When her mother pulls some strings and gets Gabriel enrolled in the all-male school, Brighten Magic Academy, Jewel decides to 'become' her cousin Jinn and attend the academy with her best friend/boyfriend Logan. Acing the entrance exam Jinn and Logan are housed with 6 other mages of similar abilities. It takes all of one day for Jewel's secret to be revealed but everyone is in agreement that she should stay as part of their team. A girl using magic, pretending to be a guy in a demanding academy living in a house full of sexy guys. It's going to be a very interesting year.
Reflections of You is extremely entertaining. It's also a bit of a mess at times. The lead female is an innocent in many ways but watches lots of porn. Brighten Academy is confusing. Jewel's brother, Gabriel attended yet he still seemed to live at home. How old was he? Jewel/Jinn and Logan didn't attend until their 20's. Was Gabriel that much older than Jewel or is there a younger version of the Academy? There were some issues with Jewel/Jinn at the ending. One was present and acknowledged but the other was the schoolmate. Which one will the school award? But most of my problems center around the mother's Alzheimer's and may be unique to me. Jewel's mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at an unusually early age and then it didn't seem to progress for the next decade. It's also referred to as a 'silly disease" and as a mental illness. As someone who worked as a home health care worker specializing in dementia both of these labels, as well as her behavior, bothered me tremendously. They were so poorly handled. I realize that I am reading a book about a girl magically becoming a boy and this is what bothers me may seem ridiculous to some but I can allow a book to suspend all reality to exist in a magical world and still expect the non-magical aspects to be realistic. I had to ignore this part of the storyline completely in order to enjoy the rest of the story. Luckily, the rest of the story was delightful.
Jewel is powerful, loving, sweet, an all-around lovely girl and the guys are awesome. Logan is pure perfection, always putting Jewel's happiness and safety first. I'm not sure he was always written realistically; he agreed way too quickly to share the love of his life with others. I loved him anyway. The only negative thing I can say about him is that he went from being romantic and sweet the entire book to being less than romantic and sweet after his first time with Jewel. It was out of character. Nixon, Maximus, Braxton, Kage, and even his twin Zane were all accepting and sweet. I look forward to more time with them in future books. Braxton has the potential to equal Logan as a terrific character. The guys made this book worthwhile. For the first time in one of Yumoyori's books, I was not a huge fan of the familiar Alice. I loved her when she was in animal form but not as a human. Her personality as a human was too much for me but I loved her as a fox, kitten or an owl.

This book felt rushed and uneven at times. It also pushed it's messages too hard. This author is at her best when her character's actions reflect acceptance and the world as it should be rather than when they talk about sexual ideology or bullying too much. There was an absorbing story with clever twists that made the argument without having to repeat the message so many times. I do believe that the series has nice potential because of the intriguing magic, the great guys, the gender-bending role, and the normal angst that accompanies a live-in school and relationships.

Anastasia is the world's only vampire succubus with a handsome wanna-be witch, Alexander as her best friend. She's also the CEO of her multi-billion dollar business, Last Resort. Fresh off a pole-dancing victory, Anastasia, Sia accepts a very lucrative private secretary position for one of the most successful businessmen in NYC. Liam is a powerful, sexy vampire. He's sweet and thoughtful outside of business hours and gives Lucifer a good reputation during work. He also may be Sia's mate.Seduce My Blood is quite different from Yumoyori Wilson's other books. Sure, it has great characters, it's set in the paranormal RH genre, it's nicely written, and of course, it's entertaining as can be but it has a different feel to it. It feels more serious, more adult. There's a mysterious vibe to it and more than a hint of danger. Sia is a great character. Driven, smart, and beautiful. A vampire-succubus with a conscience. One who worries about others and thinks about being a good mom one day. And she's funny; I love when her filter is down. I also love her relationship with Alexander. I hate that their insecurities have kept them at the friend-level but their love for one another is obvious. Liam is a demanding, harsh boss surrounded by a staff of werewolves. He's also charming and loving and has addictive kisses. There's also Pixie or Pix a stray cat that seems to be magical. I feel that this little furball is hiding a big secret. The relationships are everything in this book.

Aubrey is attending her dream college, VIP College, she's the first freshman to get a position as a contributing writer in the VIP Literature Club, her story is immensely popular, and she is dating the Golden trio, Luca, a real-life prince, Jaeson, a business mogul, and Riot, a rock-n-roll star. It seems like she has it all but there's more. She's the school's only scholarship recipient making her stand out in an uncomfortable way among the rich and famous. Her position in VIP and her story have garnered her fans but also critics and even enemies. Ugly rumors follow here around campus, hurtful and embarrassing. And her relationship with the Trio, even though it is secret, has attracted someone's attention. A blackmailer. The stress is becoming too much for Aubrey. She's not sure if she can ever fit in on this campus. She can't believe that three beautiful, successful men could ever agree to share her. She's worried about failure. Maybe she tried to reach for too much, reach too high.
Accepted: A Reverse Harem Romance (VIP College #1) by Athena Wright ****REVIEW
The Golden Trio and The Scholarship Girl. Aubrey Ellis may be the only scholarship recipient in the history of VIP College. As the four-year editor-in-chief of her high school paper, she is determined to be the first freshman accepted into the school's Literary Society. What she doesn't realize when she joins is that the club is on the verge of being shut down due to a low interest in their journal by the student body. Aubrey takes a chance and offers up an idea to the Club's Executive Board; Luca, a real-life prince, Jaeson, the son of a business mogul, and Riot, a rock star. Aubrey spent the summer dabbling in the romance genre and she offers the story up as a serial for the journal. When the men accept, Aubrey, under a pseudonym becomes a published author and the journal garners more viewers than it's had in over a year. Her story is a viral success. It also causes campus drama and once again the club is in danger of being closed down. Plus, writing romance is hard when you don't have any experience. Lucky for Aubrey, Luca, Jaeson, and Riot all offer to be her 'inspiration'. In less than one month on campus, Aubrey has caused quite a stir and attracted the attention of someone who wants her gone. She starts receiving threats. She's found success with her writing, she's developed feelings for all three men but her time at VIP College may not last. This is an unusual RH. Aubrey was a typical lead female; smart, pretty, talented, focused. However, I didn't know exactly how to take the guys. I wasn't sure of their feelings or true intentions for most of the book. Were they seriously taken with Aubrey, were they more invested in their journal and quickly realized she was the key to its success, was she a competition or maybe all of the above. The final scene in the book went a long way towards reassuring me. I really would have liked more insight into the guy's viewpoints throughout the book. I loved the scenes between the three of them. Having said this, the chemistry between each guy and Aubrey was intense. Romantic, risky Luca, Domineering Jaeson, and passionate Riot. Yum. I admit, I generally don't pick favorites (or try not to) but I love Riot. I want more.
This was a solid start to a new series. I loved the idea of a college of "celebrities". The rich and famous; it's a fun backdrop. I look forward to book two. I hope that it's longer and goes into more detail. I want more time with Aubrey and the guys, individually and as a group. I want more scenes with the guys talking, a history of their friendship, more insight into each man. I look forward to more time at VIP College!
Thank you for sharing such great information.
